Hey everyone,

was just wondering if anyone had any insight on what happens during the social worker appointment. What did you discuss?

Thanks!

We discussed why I thought I had gained weight. We talked about my history. She asked very pointed questions when she felt that I was being evasive. There were tears, but it was good to talk about things in a safe place. They are there to help you, so don't be afraid to use their services.

Yes, we spoke about weight history. Also, what my life style is - who will be there to support me? Do I have the resources to manage post-surgery? For example, I have a job that requires a lot of client relationship management (i.e. lots of dinners and drinks out) we discussed how I planned to manage navigating that. I thought it was a super productive talk.

Maybe as mine was a city appointment, they also focused on financial impact, how much time could you take off, what if you have to take more time due to complications, could you afford the vitamins etc.

I think the affordability is a big issue as OHIP pays for the surgery but the supplements are up to you, in my one month class, one of the women said she hadn't been taking the vitamins as she couldn't afford them till she went back to work, I think many MO or SMO people may be on disability or not have a good income?

We spoke about my weight gain and weight history.

We spoke about my support system for during/after surgery.

We spoke about the financial aspects of surgery and if that would cause any problems.

I can't remember anything else really.
