Hi everyone!

Tomorrow is my 11 month surgiversary. What a journey it's been! I can hardly believe I'm closing in on a year post op. And... I can hardly remember myself pre-op!!

The ride has been wild. Amazing. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. My life is different in every imaginable good way.

I thought I'd share some reflections in the good and bad. It hasn't been all roses, but it's all been worth it!!

The good (there are so many this is just a snapshot!!):

  • Down 118 lbs! More to go, but I am in onederland and at my lowest adult weight ever!
  • Off all my meds except one asthma med
  • No more seatbelt extenders on flights
  • High heels!!!!
  • No more knee pain or back pain
  • Can walk for hours
  • Can run a bit! (with my dog; she's so happy!!)
  • Crossing my legs!
  • Cheaper clothes! (Plus size is so expensive)
  • Fit through tight spaces
  • No more snoring!! And I generally sleep much better than before
  • I fit in chairs with room to spare
  • I fit in booths with room to spare!!
  • No more migraines or migraine meds

Some not as great things:

  • Hair loss; ugh!
  • Sagging skin; double ugh!
  • Body dismorphia I think... my brain has not caught up to my new size; I look at people I think are thinner than me, and they aren't. It's weird. Cool, but weird. Maybe one day my brain will catch up.
  • Nausea... oh the nausea. I was finally diagnosed with an ulcer a couple of months ago. Unfortunately my nausea has not subsided. They are retesting my gallbladder as there are problems with it, and that may be causing the nausea.

For those of you starting out, I remember I used to read these types of posts and look at pictures and wonder if I could actually lose like "they" were. Yes! It happened. It's still happening.

Enjoy the journey!

You look fabulous! Going into this surgery we knew it might not all be perfect but it sounds like you are handling it well. Great 'good' and 'not so good' lists. Many of us can relate to almost every item!

Thanks so much! Yes, complications can happen. I feel like mine is pretty minor considering all that could go wrong. :)

You're doing great, and you look fabulous. Don't worry, the hair will grow back. Also, our weight shifts. I am 4 years out and it is still shifting. I now longer have a double chin, just some wrinkles where it used to be.

I hope that they get the nausea under control. Ulcers are a ***** Do they have you on Sulcrate?

Thanks so much! I have a chin waggle. I hope that shifts positively. Haha

Yes, they have me in sulcrate 4 times a day, and a PPI twice a day. Hopefully I'll feel better soon!!

This post is awesome...you're doing fantastic and it's nice to see your success! Congrats on how well you have done.

It sounds like your positives are amazing, must be good motivation!!

I totally get the body dysmorphia...as much as I know I've lost a good amount of weight all I see still is the fat, and think I'm still so much bigger than I am. My brain doesn't know what size to shop for at the stores lol. Your pics look great though so hopefully that reinforces where you really are, helps me sometimes!

And the hair loss...oh man. Mine just started within the past month but by the amount I'm losing daily I am sure I will have none left by next month! Handfuls and handfuls every day. Glad to see you still have hair on your head and it doesn't make people completely bald ;)

Good luck as you continue to move forward with your goals, thanks for sharing an inspiring post.
