Tips for Optifast

Looking for some tips on how to get through my three weeks of Optifast, which will start on August 27th. I bought half chocolate / half vanilla but I can go back and exchange any unopened box if I'm liking one flavor over the other.

I don't drink coffee, but I have bought a couple of SF syrups, hoping that will help.

I'm also allowed a combined 2 cups per day of lettuce, green pepper, cucumber and broccoli. I was thinking of snacking on it throughout the day. Is that a good idea?

Thank you.

I thought Optifast, both chocolate and vanilla, was pretty delicious. I made it in my Ninja blender with 2-3 ice cubes, I think 2 cups cold water, a tsp of decaf instant coffee crystals, and SF syrup.

The decaf crystals helped cut the sweetness of the Opti, and made the shake taste like an iced mochaccino. If you can't have coffee or really hate the taste, it's easy to omit of course.

I think with the veggies, you'll see when you feel you need them. I know for me, I do fine with controlling hunger during the day, but it rears up at night. So I might eat them all at once as a salad in the evening. But you might prefer breaking it up into snacks throughout the day.

Thank you.

I will certainly try that in my blender at home

The chocolate I found was really good mixed with some ice cubes, kind of tastes like a frosty from wendys. If you find it too sweet, or need some variety, mixing the chocolate and vanilla together is also really great. The vanilla can taste like creamsicle if you buy Tang sugar free squirt thingies (like mio lol).

The first few days are rough, so I snacked a lot on cucumber. Once you get over that part, you will find that the rest will be a breeze. I'm 4 weeks post op now and I actually miss my optifast shakes hahaha

I would make a pudding with one shake and split it into two small containers so it felt like I was eating something, I was only allowed broth in addition to my Opti.

Wishing you the very best with your upcoming surgery.

How were you able to make it pudding? Did you add gelatin?

I would make it with half the water and chill it, I added some cinnamon to the vanilla to give it some flavour.
