hi Leanne, I to experience low blood sugar. I do best by avoiding simple carbs and make sure i eat protein every couple of hours. Also,I always have a cheese string in my purse/pocket just in case.

Topic: RE: Phase 3- Pureed Foods
use a little liquid to help moisten the meat, I loved souvlaki (pc angus, pork or chicken). Bake/bbq it, then puree with tzatziki-yum. Just make sure the meat isn't over cooked.

    Topic: RE: Do you remember?
not having a lap for your small child to sit on, trying to breast feed but your stomac sticks out too far and not being able to get the baby into position...

Topic: RE: 1 yr follow-up, some unexpected advice?!
The NUT at Barix told me that carbs should be roughly double your protein (in gms) intake. So for me,my maintanence protein was set at 70 gms/protein...so 140gm carbs. Sounds like a lot but when I track on fitday the carbs add up fast, and I'm not a bread or cracker eater. Veggies, fruits have alot of carbs, as does milk and yoghurt. What ever you do, go slow and find your sweet spot so to speak. Congratulations on you success!

    Topic: RE: I'm home
    welcome home!

Topic: RE: Please help with protein info
processed foods, like canned anything always has more sodium. However, early out, they do in a pinch as your healing. You may find you need to "soften" the tuna and chicken with no fat mayo or yoghurt because if it is too dense it might be difficult to get down early out. I used alot of yoghurt with protein powder the first few weeks-soft and grek yogurt has alot of protein too. Cottage cheese is another idea. Do you go on pureed/soft/ or straight to soft foods? I still at nearly 5 years out, buy skinless boneless chicken(on sale-I fill the freezer) and roast it so I have it all week. I make chicken salad(yoghurt as the sauce), chicken ceasar salad..you get the idea, but it is real meat so less additives. As for protein/fat...did you get a ny info from your dietician on this?otherwise tracking programs like fitday.com or myfitnesspal.com will calculate that for you-there are even apps for smart phones too. I believe the average amount of sodium an adult is supposed to eat is 1500mg day. Hope this helps. See you Tuesday at te meeting?

Topic: RE: Durham Region Support Group
Good meeting...great to see so many out!

Topic: RE: Re : never say never
while your eating tons of protein to get rid of the carb cravings.....remind yourself of all the positives; how far you've come; your size now;things you can do now. Embrace what you have accomplished, then you'll be able to move forward.

Topic: RE: Will my eyes & stomach ever be the same size??
I hated left overs before my RNY...now there are always left overs and they make great lunches! I still will make something too big, and if I'm really hungry, eat it too fast, but even at close to 5 years out, I get a nasty reminder to stop or slow down. Pain and foamies.

Topic: RE: 4 1/2 years of hell
