Off the Rear & On the Treadmill - Wednesday

Well, yesterday I only did one mile on the treadmill & one on the recumbant bike  .  Excuses, excuses - My Mom's Dr appointment took most of the morning, my 6-week checkup to a good part of the afternoon, & in between we had the grandchildren.    Anyway, today's another day & I have been officially cleared for exercise of any kind!!!  Since we still have the Grandchildren the rest of the week, and having them keeps me off the couch, I'll do 1 mile on the treadmill, 100 on the Cardioglide, 100 on the eliptical & 3 miles on the recumbant bike today. What are you doing?

Wow Jan, Your already 6 weeks out  !!!!!!! So did your Lil' Doc. tell you your doing a super Job ?  Are you happy with your progress? Can you tell the differance in how your feeling, Ya know, Pre-Surgery- Post -Surgery. Are you already packed for the  (  Great Texas Slumber Party  )  I f so, can I crawl into one of your bags and go with you.......I will try and be quiet during the flight, Ya right..... I'd be talking your ear off .  Have loads of fun, take oodles of pic's, talk, laugh, rest, enjoy....

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

    AND ALL OUR HERO'S
Hi Red! 1)  Dr. Ali was pleased with my progress.  Per my records (stark nekkid at the crack of dawn) I'm down 20 pounds.  He said I'm down 22, but afternoon weight fully dressed with shoes can be a little off in my opinion. 2)  I feel 99% recovered from surgery.  Not light-headed, not sore, no troubles at all.   Even with the loss of 20, I don't feel any better than pre-surgery yet.    I think I need two things in order to feel better:   Exercise, geting more muscles and endurance and Lost more weight.   So, that's my focus. 3)  Yes, you can crawl in my smaller bag & go to Texas with me (you'd get lost in the larger bag!). It would be even more fun if you bought a ticket & flew there with me :)   We're going to have a blast.     You know, don't you, that if you're not there we'll talk about you????? Maybe you want to reconsider. Take Care
Howdy Jan-- I got off my rear, and drove down to the track, but couldn't get there because the road and track are flooded from all of this rain!!  So I didn't walk!!   Sad   Maybe later, I will try again!! I am bummed out.  Looks like "bend and stretch" in the laundry room for me!! Have a great day!! Hugs, Lora
Lora,  that's a bummer  - but al least you'll get the laundry done this way!    BTW, when will we get to see your beautiful face on your Avatar????    It really helps to identify with eveyone when you can picture them...   Please, please ????? If I can help, just let me know.
Did 1.3 miles on the XL Glider.  Will do 15 minutes on the abs machine at lunch hour. Just got back from PCP visit.  No more diabetes, no more high blood pressure.  BP was 124/76.  Woohoo!  Took blood test to check for cholesterol today. I'll get the results next week but it looks good.  No more pills for diabetes, HBP and maybe cholesterol (only for allergies)!!!

Bev,  WOW, you're doing great!  I'm only on BP & osteoporosis meds, and I don't expect to ever get off them.   Both my parents had weight contolled (My Mom only weighs 130!) and yet they both took bp meds from the time they were 40 years old.  It's in the genes, so the most I can hope for is that maybe I could reduce them some (I take 3 for bp).
Jan, I just read your poem.  It is exceptional.  You really have a talent.  Have you written anything else??? Thanks, Bev

Thank You  Thank You  Thank You  - I love praise! I wrote my first poem in memory of my MIL when she passed.   After 9/11/2001, I wrote my second poem as a means of helping me get out all my feelings about the great tragedy of 9/11.  I'm looking for it in my computer files - if I find it, I'll post it.  Thank You Again!
Jan, You're doing great, but making me look bad.  I guess now that my hurt muscles have pretty much healed, I guess I should get back at running.  Thanks for the motivation. Floyd

Floyd,   That's great!   I was thinking about "running" (just the subject, not really doing it) recently.    I think the last time I ever ran was when one of my children was getting away from me and in danger....  The youngest is now 38 years old, so it's been awhile......   I don't think I could run if I had to -  I would trip & lose my balance, not to mention the fact that I would be out of breath in a nano-second.    I wonder if 6-12 months from now, after losing weight & exercising, I might try it again.   It seems like an impossible dream.  Till then, please run for both of us!
Good morning Jan (afternoon actually) I had Dr. appt for B 12 shot and labs to check the effectiveness of my coumidin dose today.  I also had lunch with a WLS patient 4 years out.  I had never met her but had spoken on the phone.  So my morning and early afternoon were busy.  I have choir practice tonight.  However, I will get in 5 miles on my recumbent bike sometime today.

I had a nice time today. It is good to see a pic to go with the name. Maybe those that live in the Spring, Kingwood, and Humble area can join us next time. Hugs Donna
Good for you!    Lunch with a fellow wls patient sounds like fun, coumadin checking, not so much.  I take my Mom to a coumadin clinic regularly.   They check her blood, we see the Doc & he adjusts her meds right then.    This is a big improvement over what we used to do.  We used to go to the lab in the morning to pull blood, then I'd take her home.   By afternoon, her Doc would call & tell us how to adjust meds, then I had to drive back to her house that night to fix her medicine trays.  I know this isn't a big deal, but it sure does eat up a lot of time!
I get blood drawn on one day an have to wait 24-48 hours to get the results.  So far I have not been able to keep my readings stable.  They flucuate.  I don't like going more than a week without the test.  The one time I listened to my Dr and let 3 weeks go by my levels were way too low.  She has me set up on a standing order so I go when I want to and not when she wants me to.  She is too inconsistant.  I may be looking for a new Doc before long.

You might check to see if there is a Coumadin Clinic that could do it all.   The Doctor that runs it is a specialialist in that area & it's one stop!   Sometimes we have to come back in 4 days when he makes a change in dosage.  Other times we can wait 4 weeks before coming back.  I love it!
My doc just called, well her office called.  My numbers are up from 1.3 to 1.7.   They need to be between 2.0 and 2.4.  She is doubling my dosage.  I'll take 4mg one day and 2 mg the next for two weeks and test again.  I will chek on the web and see is there is a coumadin clinic in the area.  Neverf heard of one but maybe there is one somewhere.  Thanks for the info.
