     Good Morning OFF Family,
I cannot sleep.  At first, I thought I needed Benadryl.  Then, a couple of hours ago, I realized I had not taken my bedtime meds, so I took them, and I still can't sleep.

I invited my sister over to watch the Puppy Bowl, then the Super Bowl.  I made a crock pot full of chili, and will be warming that up.  Sissy is bringing over some wings.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Hugs,
    Trish

Woke up at 5:30 and felt rested, so here I am.   Last Sunday at my church this morning ...will be sad to say goodbye to many friends.  Have just a little back stitching to do on the baby bib, and had to completely take out the stitching on the "K", so will have to re-do that, must  complete it this afternoon.  The baby has already come and I actually got to hold her at work Friday, when the Mommie came in to show her off.  So sweet - Lyza Christine.

Will host Book Club here this evening, for the last time.   Made my famous orange chiffon pie recipe, but made it red raspberry -- delicious.

Packing is done, will load car Tuesday afternoon.

Trish I hope you can some rest today.  Good thoughts and prayers to all my friends here.  Thanks to the wonderful internet, I'll be checking in once in a while.

    Love and hugs,
    Pat r.

Good Morning Trish, Pat R, and all to follow-

I've been lurking the the background this past week.  Busy week for me with dental appointments, bloodwork and 6 month nutritionist visit here in Texas.  Thursday night I was surprised by a visit from a Maine neighbor who is volunteering south of here.

No cavities at the dental appointment and they gave me a copy of all the xrays they took so I don't have to pay for another set when I return to Maine.  Someday it will all be digital and I will be able to carry a jump drive.  Blood work was uneventful other than the massive bruise on my arm.  The technician must have punched through the vein.  Six month appointment was good.  I'm right at 50 pounds since surgery.  My body fat percentage has dropped considerably since October.

I would have liked to have been a bit further along on the weight loss journey.  I have another 50 pounds to go to get to goal.  I've developed some bad habits lately with almonds so I have decided to only buy the 100 calorie packs and allow myself one per day.  Bulk bags are too much like potato chips.  Also going to only buy parmesan cheese and cheese sticks for cheese.  The nutritionist suggested increasing vegetables and decreasing amount of protein a bit.  I'll give it a try.  She also suggested weaning off of all artificial sweeteners and only using Stevia.  I'll give that a try as well.

Today is windy, cold and rainy here.  It rained gently most of the night.  I'm going to spend most of the day in the volunteer building sewing the under the counter curtains and working on a baby quilt.  Superbowl may be on the agenda tonight depending on whether the wind dies down.  When it's real windy the satelitte dishes vibrates too much and I lose signal.

Positive thoughts going out to all who need them.

Cindi...sounds like overall your appointment went well. Half way to goal is great...you will get there!! Inches do count!!

Did your nutritionist say why other sweeteners are not as good to use....why Stevia?? I use Splenda and am just curious as to the reason she chose that one. I will switch too if it isn't as good for you!! Thank you!

    Have a good day....HUGS...connie d

    Connie & Mag-

Here general comment about sweeteners was that they made things too sweet and then naturally sweetened things like fruit don't taste good to us.  Nothing negative about the artificial sweeteners except that literature is starting to show they are not good for us.  I'm going to do some research on Splenda as I like that a lot.  Stevia is "natural".  Mag-  I'm not sure about  the after taste as I have only been using it for two days.

Cindi...thanks for the reply. I have heard that artificial sweeteners have an ingredient that can stimulate our appetite. Plus they really aren't good for us. That is why I quit drinking Crystal Light after more then 4 years and am back to just plain water.
Please keep me posted on how you like or dislike Stevia. I would love your input somewhere down the line. Thanks!

Connie if you stopped drinking the crystal light why don't you get some lemon juice or lime juice and put that in your water for some flavoring? Makes it a flavor drink and no calories...;-)

    Hi Cindi,
Why did your NUT suggest you switch to Stevia? I just don't like the taste.  Mag

All stevias are not created equally.  buy the Stevia in the Raw.  Truvia and some other brands are not 100% stevia.

    GOOD MORNING OFF family!!!!

Got up this morning and it felt so good to see an empty hallway and then come into the living room and see only one box sitting there!!! The END is NEAR!!!!! LOL :-)

Rick's mom, daughter, grandson and brother are SUPPOSED to come see us in a couple weeks. Not going to hold my breath....if they come so be it. If they don't...well no skin off my nose...Its how his mother is. Rick is NOT her favorite Joe is and IF she NEEDS Rick well she would call him alot...but since we moved away...well lets say the calls are few and far between. He likes that and so do I. :-) Be interesting IF they do come here. Can't wait to see the $ store item she got for Rick for Christmas. Yeah that is what she spends on him. Nice huh? I know its the thought that counts but she lets him KNOW what she got for Joe. And I know it hurts Rick to know she spent alot on Joe and a buck on him. Sad. I try my best to make up for it but still it has to hurt deeply.

Making some white chili for the super bowl tonight. Smells sooo good right now and its just starting to get warmed up...can't wait til it is ready to dip into!!!!

Today is my oldest son's birthday. He is 41...omg how did he get that old already?? I am so proud of him and how his life turned out!! Happier yet that he got rid of that wife he had...so controling!! He has a very nice girlfriend and she thanks me alot for giving him life and that she met such a wonderful man!!! I hope they marry or atleast stay together for the rest of their lives!! Makes me happy just thinking about them together!! :-)

Well time to get Bandit outside again so best get going. Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!!

    HUGS

    Good morning Trish and everyone....

YAY Super Bowl Sunday!!  I am not sure who I want to win...sorry to say neither are my favorites. I will have to listen to the pre game show and decide then.
Friends have been calling and wanting me to come and watch the game. I prefer to just stay home this year. I am still recovering and my breathing isn't the best yet. I cleaned the house yesterday and am aching today.

Trish....sure hope you can get your sleep straightened out. You need good sleep to heal!!

Pat...I wish you safe travels and a very happy life!!

Judy...so glad you are down to one box...wooohooo!! How can your son be 41 and you are 42???? Doesn't add up...LOL!!!

I have CRS this morning...can't remember who else I was going to post a reply to...darn I hate that!!

Wishing you all a really wonderful day!! Prayers for many!!

Love and hugs to all....connie d

      Hi Connie,

When I don't have a favorite team I wait until the game starts. I see who is playing the best and cheer for the other team. I love to see a comeback.  Mag

     Connie,
The Giants are NFC East rivals to my Eagles, so I root for whoever they are playing.  I'm not crazy about New England, but my son and I despise the Giants.

Trish, sorry you didn't sleep well. Hope it improves tonight.
Pat, Hope the move goes smoothly for you. Best of everything for you and your Bobby.
Judy, I know that great feeling of getting the boxes out and the home complete.

Ready for the Super Bowl. My chili is simmering on the stove. I tasted tested it last night. Pretty darn good. Oh, I forgot that Ellen wanted Cornbread. Must run and bake it for her.

        Hugs,    Mag    Oh, Go Giants.

Hello everyone and Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Just finished feeding my "boys" and washing up the dishes.  Typically day laborers here get a per diem and a hot lunch.  So whenever we hire them, I always end up cooking a big noon day meal, which is good for me today.  Now I don't have to cook during the Super Bowl this evening.  Today I served hamburger steak smothered in onion gravy, black beans, turnip greens, and gluten free cornbread (more on that in a minute, Marti!).

Juan is just the nicest fella and so polite!  He's doing a good job for us today.  I'm fixing to head up to the attic and start sorting through some of the junk up there.  Juan will be the one to make all the trips up and down the stairs, so it won't be too bad.

I'm not a huge football fan, although I can follow the game well enough.  Butch says we are rooting for the Giants.  Okay by me.  I'll be crocheting a baby blanket during the game, so I'll be happy.  I told Butch we're having popcorn for our game snack.  Gluten free, don't ya know!

So, Marti, I downloaded the Wheat Belly book onto my Nook last night.  I've only gotten to read a couple of chapters, but I have to say, he does make a compelling argument against wheat!  But the thing that struck me the most is all the "symptoms" that he has discussed so far are the exact things that my husband has been complaining about!  Starting today, we are going gluten free.  We had oatmeal for breakfast and that was good.  I made gluten free cornbread to go with our dinner.  And I've put together a grocery sack of wheat flour items out of my pantry to send home with Juan today.

I need time to do more research before I go to the store to stock up on new products, but hubby and I are pumped about trying this new diet.

So glad to hear from everyone today and see that all are doing well.  Talk to you all tomorrow!

    Love you all!
