    Topic: RE: Asymptomatic?
I had no clue that my raspy morning and sometime most of the day voice was acid reflux. I often get bad heartburn, but the sore throat and raspy voice I attributed it to my asthma. My asthma Nurse, that calls me monthly form Tricare, told me It was reflux.  I have had asyntomatic UTI, but it was Kidney. In order to know if you are better they need to have a Cath sample and look at it under the microscope and culture it. If you are still on antibiotic, the culture may not grow. I had to be on antibiotics for a year and then after Uh "certain activities" to get on top of my infections. I went through many cystos and utrasounds and the most dreaded IVPs.  I know this stuff because of experience, and this was a large part of my profession. The uninealysis and microbiology. As well as hemotoogy, chemisty, blood bank, nuclear medicine, etc.  you probably need to see a Urologist. Take care Diana

Topic: RE: O.T. Menapause ?'s for ladies
I don't have any good answers for you I had a complete hysterectomy in my early 40's. But that is how I lived all the time. I was completey irregular with very heavy 10 day painful periods coming at any time they wished. I do know that menopause can be very irratic. I wish you well with this. I feel so much better since I had mine removed. Diana

    Topic: RE: battling the prejudice
I can guess the diagnosis. I have gotten so tired of Doctors who think they are so great and grand and above everyone else. I'v got news for them. So often they are so judgemental not helpful. If you are a woman, overweight and tired at all they often won't take you seriously. They assume you are fat and lazy and it's your own fault. I have watched Drs reactions in the ER and believe me many of them treat people differently depending on their first impression and they talk differently to the staff depending on the patient. The good news is that many of the younger doctors are being taught better manners and more compassion.  My Surgeon says he is trying to educate  doctors one patient at a time. My orthopedic surgeon wants the weight off me, but understands the problem I'm having. He was the one that first suggested WLS. How can I lose weight when I can't walk let alone do anything else. Both my Orthopedic doc and my PCP agree with this. I agree with your I hope you realize the problem is him not you. You are doing the best you can. In fact from what I know of you, you are doing more than you really can. You've had a lot on your plate and you keep going. I hope your surgeon and PCP are more compassionate with you because you deserve it.   Keep your chin up, you are great. Diana

Good, we will all want it. I grind my own wheat, so it is real whole wheat. I can grind it into a very fine powder. I can even make a very light sponge cake with it. I am  finding Splenda to be very good. Diana

    Topic: RE: so upset
I feel for you. It is hard to see your children suffer. I'm like you I'd rather have it than my children.  Type I diabetis is not like type II. It is not caused from obesity or eating junk. It is often hereditary.  I had a scare with my oldest daughter. the Dr. thought she had it when she was 3 years old. She didn't, it was a kidney infection. Then my youngest son started spilling sugar in his urine at 8. I did the 6 hour glucose tolerance on him. He was not and still isn't diabetic, he just spills sugar at times.   I sure hope she does alright. She did nothing wrong. It is something you just get. With all the Monitoring they can do now she can really control her glucose levels. It's so much better treated now. My cousin has an insulin pump. That has helped her a lot. She was 15 when she got it. She has 3 children now and has done really well.  It is hard on you I know, try not to worry she will be able to live a full good life. Take care of yourself.  Diana

    Topic: RE: More imformation!!!!!
I couldn't find a place to reply under Joyce's post, so I will here. On ending in ose is sugar. Sucrose is table sugar, fructose is fruit sugar, lactose is milk sugar. Glucose is the sugar that the body metabolizes for energy. It is refered to as blood sugar. Your body makes glucose by breaking down complex carbs (starches) and also from fat and protein. Glucose is essential for your body to live. But you don't need to eat any. Your body will make plenty on its own. Just like cholesterol. They are so necessesary that your body makes all it needs. this is wherre my biochemisty helps me. LOL It has been a little hard, but I have given up sugar and I am not craving it. I hope I don't years from now.  thanks for the info Birdy. Good information.

Topic: RE: Is this Temporary - or did WLS fix what the Urologist could not?
My doctor says that will really help me with this also. I am on meds also, I might even get off that. I am not going to try a trampoline. I can't even cough without an accident.  So, you should get better as you lose weight. Diana
