Was anyone else told no vitamins for 10 days before surgery?
I'm having Brachioplasty on May 4th and I was going through the paperwork and it says no aspirin or vitamins for 10 days before I knew about aspirin products and blood thinners but vitamins???

Well, if I were you I would make sure they are aware that you are post WLS and assure them you will not take any Vitamin E or garlic and herbs or aspirin.  Otherwise, I would be taking a multivitamin that doesnt have much Vit E in it and some minerals like selenium, zinc pre-op...and post op too.  Some extra protein and iron would be good too...iron if you are taking it now anyway.  I am not a doc so do your own research but our bodies need the proper tools to heal and to take them away cuz of fear of certain ones could really be hurtful to your recovery.  I would also recommend the arnica and bromelain...it does amazing things for recovery...

Yep there are some things like Vit E that you're not supposed to do, usually drs limit all kinds of meds before surgery (at about 10 days), like I had to stop glucophage at least a week out - really could only take ambien as needed and tylenol products.  No alcohol for at least 2 days prior to surgery...

It all affects your body and you need to listen to them - 10 days off vitamins won't hurt you!

Hi while it is true you should avoid certain vitamins, it is important to add quite a few.  Here are a couple of links to my surgeons website listing what to AVOID prior to surgery.

Here is a link to a product that my surgeon supplies for his patients.  It tastes horrible and it is kinda pricey, but you could look at the ingredients to see the list of MUST HAVE vitamins for surgery.  I did 3 servings for 3 weeks prior to surgery and 6 weeks after.
