 San Jose, CA Member Since: 06/12/10 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 2/6/12 11:40 am I'd like to rent one of those recliners that lifts you up automatically, but can't seem to find a good source. Anybody have any recommendations, particularly in the bay area? Thanks in advance!

A medical supply store may rent recliners that can help you to a standing position. Go online and/or check out the yellow pages. They are all over the Bay Area. They also have risers for toilets. Once I got home I was in my own bed. Do you think you'll need that much of a recliner? I read a lot about them but decided that I could do without it. When are you having your procedures done? If I remember reading correctly, you've been doing a lot of exercising? I found that my pilates really prepared me to not need that recliner. Member Since: 07/06/10 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 2/6/12 7:37 pm I'm going to need something, since my bed is high off the floor and I don't think that I would be able to climb into it. I slept on my couch after the VSG surgery for the same reason. I wish I had a recliner at that time. A LBL is much more extensive and there isn't anyway that I could get into my bed, despite having strong abs. Plus, I wouldn't want to put stress on the incisions. Another reason for me, is that my townhouse is two stories, so I'm going to have to minimize going up and down stairs for the first week. I could put a recliner in my living room, which would probably help. " |

 Member Since: 04/06/10 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 2/6/12 7:44 pm Hi there, I know that alot of people use recliners but I did not. I had one at home but I was much more comfortable in my own bed. I didn't have the LBL but I had TT with lipo on back so all 4 of my areas (front, back and both sides) were sore just like a LBL. I used alot of pillows and then would log roll onto my side and have my husband help pull me up. I think as long as you have someone at home to help you for the first few days you will be fine without one. However...if you want one, I do think the best bet would be to look for a medical supply place. Good luck Patty My weight loss journey   |

 Member Since: 05/17/10 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 2/7/12 8:49 am I also have a high bed, I live in a studio loft, and I actually have to climb a ladder to get in bed.(kind of like a bunk bed but higher up) So I went on craigslist to buy a used recliner. I ended up getting a super cozy and big recliner for 40 dollars. I also paid another 40 for deliver. I think I got a good deal and it does not match my decorating taste, so after I use it for the next 3 months I will go sell it myself on craigslist. There was this really nice one that was only a month old that they paid 600 for that they were selling for only 50 dollars. I was going to look at it the following day, and actually someone beat me to it and it got sold out from under me. But if I would have gotten that one, I bet after I used it I could have sold it for more than I paid for it. But the one I bought was still worth the money and I could maybe get 50 pretty easily. I would also see lift recliners on their too. I saw two (one was pretty nice) for around 200. That might be the same price if you ended up renting one, but not sure. But if you bought it you would have it to sell once you no longer had it. Just an idea. I am having my surgery in 2 weeks and only got a traditional one, I will let you know if it was enough of a help or I if I wish I had one with the lift. Jennifer |

I didn't have a lot of pain, but I did not feel comfortable at all sleeping in my bed. So I for sure will need a recliner and for sure want to rent one with a lift. I'm scheduled for March 5th and have been trying to find one for a week now. I searched online locally, and checked the websites of local medical supply stores, but they didn't say they rented the chairs. I was hoping someone knew of a place. I guess I will have to pick up my phone and start calling places since my online search hasn't been fruitful. Thanks again!

There has to be medical supply stores in the San Jose area. The phone book had advertisments with lift chairs pictured!! Gail " |
