New bras after breast work

How long did you wait to buy new bras after having your breasts done? For swelling, etc?

What did you wear in the meantime?

Did the style of bra that you preferred change after surgery? If so, how did it change?

(Please feel free to give me links so I can see specific styles, etc!)

Thanks :D

I'm only 2 weeks post-op (and with an augmentationplus a lift) but I was recommended a very comfortable, front-clasp sports bra to wear during the healing process.

This is the one I ordered and it has been great! So comfortable and soft. I can sleep in it and it's not as ugly and hard to hide as most post-surgery bras:

Some of the reviews highly recommended it after breast work (like masectory, lift, implants). I actually am buying another pair to switch out with.

As far as sizing, I was advised to give it at least a month before knowing where I'll end up size-wise. I have a ton of swelling in my chest at 2 weeks, but I also seem to swell a lot more with my procedures than most. How is your swelling? I think probably a nice, comfy sports bra will suffice until like a month post-op just to give time for that to resolve - even with just a lift.

Thanks! I actually looked at that bra earlier today but ended up not ordering it because I couldn't figure out the sizing. I've currently got a 32" underbust/chest measurement and that only goes to 36" from what I can tell. But.. that gives me an idea of what to look for!

My swelling after my first surgeries has been okay. :) Here's hoping this continues with the rest of them!

I hear you on the sizing! It's very weird. I'm usually a 34 and ordered a 38 and it fits perfectly...although I'm not sure what motivated that decision. It may have been some reviews or Just a random guess.

I think as long as it's soft, front-close, and no underwire, you should be good to go!

And you're so lucky on the swelling! Two weeks post-op and I definitely look like I'm 3-4 months pregnant. Oyy!!

Thanks :) I'll consider getting the smallest size.

Pre-op, I read a lot of old posts in this forum and one of the things I kept seeing mentioned was pineapple enzymes to help with the swelling. I checked out some research on PubMed and it seems like it has some data to back its efficacy, so I've been using 1/4 of this in my daily breakfast protein shake.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, though.

Yes! My surgeon has me on a pre and post-op vitamin regimen and it includes 1,000 mg of bromelain a day. Not sure if it has helped at all, but I am hoping it has!

I did want to add - with the regimen, whether it's due to it or not, I have had absolutely no bruising and my incisions are already completely healed over. Sadly, it's not helping my swelling or fluid retention. :)

I have these in the smallest size and they worked for me. My underbust measurement is 31" (just checked). Some of the other sports bras I bought post-op to recover in are mediums and larges. They still work for me. Sizing is weird.

I did not have much swelling with my breast lift.

Hi. I've been wearing these bras from Walmart since about a week post op. Danksin Now Zipfront Sport Bra I tried to post the link but I'm having a moment.

I tried a ton of different bras from many retailers - but these were it for me.

Though I'm a small or medium blouse, I am wearing a large However, I am still fairly large breasted - larger than I wanted unfortunately.

I was told that I should wait three months for underwires but that I could go ahead and buy a couple of soft cup bras to wear.

Unfortunately when I went and got sized I came up as a 32G (sister size 34DDD). I had previously been a 32J and I was hoping for a C or D but unless there is a butt load of swelling I'm not aware of I'm guessing this is it.

I bought two underwires, and my sister gave me a couple she had from her last weight loss. I've only worn them for an hour here or there when I'm going to dinner with my partners - otherwise I'm staying in the sports bras.

Ill probably stick with that until my doctor prescribed 3 months. I don't want to spend a ton on bras I'm not going to wear long term - so I'd rather wait for the underwire restriction to be lifted.

But those bras aren't bad - ironically I left the pads in so they don't give me uniboob and they are good for compression and comfort. I'm not one for clothes in bed at all and it hasn't been bad sleeping in them.

Woo! I didn't know you'd had surgery! Congrats! Although I'm sorry you're larger than you were hoping for.

My surgeon said that I should go with anything without an underwire and said "sports bra" but all of my current sports bras are underwire because, hello, big boobs :P I prefer the compression+encapsulation style of sports bra.

Thanks for the Danskin recommendation. I'll check them out :D
