Here's a weird question... underwear

Where does underwear fit in this whole lbl/thigh lift scenario or does it? So you have a garment on and drains. Are you commando? Until when? What about when you no longer have drains but are still in the garment? Do you wear them underneath? Just wondering if I need to bring any with me at the surgery recovery center the first 5 days...

I did not wear underwear until after my drains came out and then I wore them over my garment, not under.

Good question and thanks for asking! I had my pre-op appointment with my PS this past week and it came up that I will not need underwear for a while. I didn't get a perfectly clear picture of when I would go back to wearing panties, but anywhere from a few days (first followup appointment) to until the drains are out (10 days?). I hate being commando but at least it will be easier when the urge strikes ;)

The assistant did say to get some very loose underwear for the first few weeks since I will be swollen.

I didn't wear underwear for a while - the compression garments I had were crotchless, but covered so much that it seemed unnecessary. When I did start wearing undies again, I'd wear boyshorts over the compression garment. Like a superhero. :)

My taste in undies has changed a lot since reconstructive surgery - I still don't really know what type I prefer.

A lot of not wearing it was also due to getting it on being challenging and it was just one more thing to deal with when I went to the bathroom, etc.

The crotch-less-ness of the garments drove me nuts with everything peeking out rubbing on pants. I experimented with wearing underwear over/under them and settled on over. Until the day that we were traveling and I opted to pee through the garment hole but forgot to pull the underwear down. That was fun.

Oh Erin, that's adding insult to injury!

Yeah, I had to shimmy out of my undies in the bathroom stall and ball them up and tuck them in my pocket. The worst part was that then I had to fess up to what I did in front of husband and kids because otherwise, I was going to have to ride in the car with pee soaked underwear in my pocket.

The fessing up part is more painful than the thing itself most of the time...

Gwen and Erin, etc.

How long did you go without? I am hoping that I can wear something by the time the drains are out. And BTW how long were your drains in? My PS says that they should come out at 10 days if all goes well.
