Topic: RE: TT is scheduled!
I know how excited you must feel.

Just wanted to let you know that I too had a TT last Jan...love it!  When I went in for my consult I was also thinking of getting a BL/BA at the same time.  After the consult I decided that my girls didn't look that bad to justify that much extra money and I would be fine in a really good bra.  But after the TT....my boobs look so much better.  So many people have asked me if I also got a boob job.  The flatter stomach just makes the boobs look alot better. I kind of feel like I got a free boob job too...

Just thought I would share and maybe that will happen to you too!

good luck...It was a tough surgery I won't lie to you but I would do it again in a second...love my new tummy!

Sounds like you are married to a great man!

I just wanted to let you know that when I had my TT last Jan I had no problem getting my state disability.  As far as work...you just tell them you are having surgery, I was told by my doc you don't even need to tell them what you are having.

good luck to you!  YOu have worked hard on your journey and deserve this PS..it is so worth it and you will feel great!

Topic: RE: Tummy Tuck
It was by far a MUCH harder surgery than the sleeve.  I had my TT last Jan and it was a really tough few days...but it does get better..and so worth it!  I would do it again without question.

YOu are right..the results are worth it!  Keep focusing on that.

I agree with everyone else...call your doc and explain how you are feeling.  Not having enough strength yet to do your job is a medical reason....especially if your work is physical.

good luck

Topic: RE: Keloid??? after tummy tuck a year out.
I too form keloids when I scar.  My PS knew that and could see it from my other surgical scars.  So he had me put paper tape over my scars for 6 months.  That made a hugh difference.  My TT incision looks good .  My Belly button is thicker . is just the way some bodies heal.  I believe the only thing you could do about it is get it surgically fixed...but mine is no where bad enough to consider that.  I am just much happier with a flat tummy!

I think your prices sound great. But I live in California and we pay more for everything here.  In Jan I had an extended abdominalplasty and full back lipo, stayed one night in the surg suite (which also was 1000)...so the total cost for everything  (hospial, anesth, etc) was 13,000.  I didn't shop around , I thought this guy was the best and that is what I wanted.  Don't just go by price, make sure you are happy with him or her.  If you are, I personally think you have a great price!

good luck

Topic: RE: Thoughts and experiences with Liposuction?
Hi Lee,

Miss you!  YOu know I had to literally look at my scars because I wasn't sure.  Mine are still pink/purplish color.  I am not the prettiest scarer and you will never see me on a PS advertisment ..I just don't scar pretty.  I tend to keloid and I have that in areas...especially my belly button.  I did the tape for sixths months faithfully starting at first post op appt..which I think was on day 5.  I think my scaring would have been much worse had I not done that.  But you know ...as long as my tummy is flat...I really don't care...I have never been a bikini girl anyway!!
Are you going to the support group this Wed..I just found out that it is this coming week on the 5th.  Cathy and I are planning to go..and dinner before as usual.
Hope to see you

Topic: RE: Thoughts and experiences with Liposuction?
I had full back lipo when I had my extended TT...I have to be honest it hurt alot..and I bruised alot.  IN fact my pain went on for months and I kept blaming it on my back lipo...and it turns out I had kidney stones!  So now I am not sure how much was lipo pain or kidney stone pain??  Either way..I would do the lipo again in a sec.  I think it complimented my TT.

good luck to you

Topic: RE: Anyone have Plastics before hitting Goal?
I totally understand being inpatient and wanting it now!   BUT...I think you would me MUCH happier in the long run if you are at goal...and you are so close! I do think the extra lbs losing after will alter your results.  I was at goal for 6 months before my TT.  I know that my surgeon will do surg on those that are not at goal but he was very happy that I was and that I would be happier with the results...and I am!
If I were you I would wait until you hit goal.  Make that your motivating factor to get there!
Also..I had wanted my boobs done too...but to be honest I didn't think mine were bad enough to justify the additional 11,000 to have them done.  (I live in California...everything costs more here)..so I decided not to and I am so glad that I didn't do it.  WIth a flat tummy...my boobs look so much better (of course I need a good bra).  I have had several people ask me if I got a boob job too...so I kind of feel like I got an additional bonus!

the best of luck to you whatever you decide...you need to follow your heart

I had my TT and back lipo done after being at goal for 6 months.  I would do it again in a second....worth every penny!  Having said that it wasn't the easy surgery for me...no complications just tough few days...but would do it in a heartbeat again!

good luck to you

Topic: RE: looking for tummy tuck info
Hi Lesley,

This Forum also helped me alot with my sleeve and then with my PS...so I am more than happy to share!  Just paying it back as they say.

Yes sleeping for a few days was very difficult...but the pain meds helped and my doc also gives you a muscle relaxant for a few days  (I think about 4 days) and that too is a big help.  My back bruised alot..but I am just one of those people that easily bruise.  IT goes away and so does the pain.  I knew the pain would be tough for awhile but I wanted this very much so I was willing to go through it.
Sleeping was tough for a while...my front and sides all had incisions from my extended TT..and then the back with lipo..I think I ended up sleeping on my back because it hurt less that way.  All I can tell you is that the first 4 days are tough or atleast they were for me...but it really does get better.  Having my husband there was a hugh help.
I am happy with the surg that I picked...the extended TT and back lipo...My back luckily was good enough.  I considered having my boobs done and talked to my doc about it alot...but in the end I decided that they were not bad enough to spend an additional 10,000 and in a good bra they looked fine.  And I am so glad that I didn't have them done because now after my TT...they are so much bigger looking..because my tummy is smaller.  I can't tell you how many people have asked me if I got new boobs too!  So I feel like I got them for free!  Yes after 3 kids I would like them to be alittle perkier...but it is all about a good bra and they are great!
You are smart to get as much info as possible.  It is such an exciting journey!!

Topic: RE: looking for tummy tuck info
I had my extended abdominalplasty and full back lipo at about 19 months post VSG.  I had been at my goal for about 6 months and my doc was pleased with that.  I think to get the best results it is best to be at goal if possible.  I didn't know what I wanted when I went to my PS exactly but that I wanted my tummy gone!  I know alot of people have lower body lifts so I wasn't sure what I needed.  He said that I didn't need that because I did have a "nice " shape in his opinion in my back.  I totally trusted him..I had seen his work on a friend that had a VSG and as soon as I saw her tummy..I knew this was the doc that I wanted!  I didn't even go for another consult.  He was my man!  He choose what kind of TT to do and we discussed it and I just totally trusted him.
My scar goes from hip to hip and it is very low.  I could easily wear a bikini and not have it show.  I am very happy with my results and would do it again in a minute...but it was not an easy surgery!  The first 4 or 5 days were very tough.  Your tummy is so tight from the muscle tightening that standing up straight is not an option.  My husband was home with me for 4 days and that was a hugh help.  That is what they give you drugs for...it helps so much and I wasn't afraid to use them.  I don't like pain and wanted to be as comfortable as possible and my surgeon was very understanding about that.
Before I even had my VSG I knew that I wanted a TT at the end of my journey...it was going to be my reward for going thru it all...and I did it.  It was the cherry on my sundae!!  I would do it again in a minute...I was totally self pay and worth every penny!
good luck to you...I would really do research and try to find a good surgeon ..one that you have actually seen his work.
Please feel free to ask any questions.

Topic: RE: Thigh & Arm Lift on African Americans
never used cream.  I had tape on it from my first post op appt..which was 5 days after my surgery.  I had surg in Jan..and just only recently stopped using the tape.  I did it for an entire 6 months like he said.  I did not form any keloids this time and I had them with both my VSG scars and then my gallbladder scars  (I had to have my GB out a few months post VSG).  So I think it worked for me.

good luck to you

Topic: RE: Thigh & Arm Lift on African Americans
I am not african american but I scar like I am!   I tend to keloid with scaring and my plastic surgeon was concerned about that.  So after my TT he had me cover the incision for an entire 6 months with paper tape....it did help alot!  I would discuss this with your PS.  I know arm lift scars are harder to cover up than TT ones...so good luck to you

Topic: RE: PREGNANCY AFTER TUMMY TUCK???
I think it would be worth a PS consult to discuss your situation.  I normally would think that you should have all of the kids you have before getting a TT...but if you are having so much discomfort now you might not want to wait.  I would see what they say.
When I had my consult, he said that it was good that I was donw having kids  (I have 3) ...but you might be a case where it is worth not waiting.

good luck to you

Topic: RE: BL/TT July 30! Tips and suggestions plz:)
Mine was totally self pay.  I paid 13,100 for my surgery ...including everything.  My doc made me stay one night in the hospital.  (I live in california and everything is more here!)
It is a bummer about the insurance not paying...I didn't even look into it because I knew they wouldn't .  But alot of people do get it covered around here..maybe you can get some tips from them or there is financing available I think.

good luck to you.

I am gonna be honest..it was a very tough week for me! I had an extended tummy tuck and full back lipo.  I hurt alot!   But it was totally worth it and I would do it again in a minute.  I just want you to be prepared just in case you do hurt...the pain meds work well  (don't forget to take your stool softeners!) and each day gets alot better but the first 5 days were very tough for me.  My husband was home with me for the first 5 days and that was a hugh help.  Make sure you have some protein drinks on hand because you just won't feel like eating..or atleast I didn't and you need that protein to heal.

I am not trying to be a downer here...I just want to be honest about my experience.  But again, I would do it all over again in a minute!  IN fact, I wish that I could do more!

best of luck to you!!

anything that is very lose and very comfy!  I wore PJ's to the hospital and came home in them.  I literally just wore a very lose nightshirt for the first week.  Jeans are totally out!  I didn't wear jeans for a very long time post op.  I lived in yoga pants after that first week.

good luck to you
