Topic: RE: How quick did you pay?
That sounds about right.  I had to pay 1000 to schedule  (non refundable).  Then paid my PS at the pre-op a few weeks before.  Had to pay the anesthesiologist a few weeks before and the surgery center the morning of surgery.

good luck to you

Topic: RE: Tummy Tuck qustions?
good luck to you on your upcoming surgery.

I am 3 months post Tt  and back lipo.  I went down a size in pants..wear a size 8 now..haven't done that in years!  I had 9.5 lbs taken off between fat and skin!
I could totally tell right away  the difference but about 1 week out I got very swollen..totally normal!
I did not sleep in a recliner..nothing like my own bed...used pillows to help get comfy.
It was a tough week I won't lie to you...but so worth it!  I am thrilled with results and would do it again in a minute!
I took 3 1/2 week off of work...I could have used more but I personally wouldnt' take less than that.

Please feel free to ask me any other questions..I am happy to answer anything!

Topic: RE: getting plastics while still overweight
This is a tough question ...and really is up to you!  I was at goal for about 6 months before my TT and my surgeon had told he was happy about that.  I am thrilled with my results.  So if you asked me this 4 months ago..I would have absolutely said you need to be at goal first.
Now having seen my dear friend Sublimate get her PS and not being quite at goal yet..I have changed my mind in some cases!  She looks great and I think this will actually help her to get to goal..because it is so motivating to feel better and because once you heal I think you can exercise easier without the extra skin.  Yeh..you might need alittle revision in a few years..but who doesn't??

So my answer is do what is best for you!  Whatever you can afford to do and what feels right for you.

good luck on your journey!

I completely hear you!!

I do think that natural changes are by far better.

I can see how Plastic surgery is addicting is one has tones of money and time.  Once you get something fixed, you want something else fixed.  I can see that happening to me.  I guess it is a good thing that I don't have tons of money and time to get more PS.

Talk to you later.

Topic: RE: Advice about a tummy tuck
Yes it is horrible pain but it is worth it.  You have to keep your eye on the prize!

Diet:  No special diet.  You might want to up your protein just to help with healing.  I was not hungry for several days after surgery.
Exercise:  I couldn't exercise for 6 weeks after.
WOrk:  I took off 3 1/2 weeks.  i am a RN and part of my work is desk work and the other part patient care.  I could not go back to the patient care part until 6 weeks.
Pain:  I agree..the worst I have ever had.  The first week was horrible..and then each day gets better.
Drainage:  I did not have any drains...yeh!  My doc does a special technique so he doesn't use them.
Size;  I went down a size in pants
  from a size 10 to a size 8

I am 3 months out and I can honestly say it was totally worth it.  but be prepared for a tough week.  Remember no pain, no gain..or loss that is!
please let me know if you have any other questions.

Topic: RE: Don't get me wrong but..
I realize that some people don't have the extra money but there are a lot of people that just do not know the difference.  I personally just want to make sure that people know the diff.  And if you are going to upgrade to a TT then is the time to do it.  You save a lot of money by just being in surgery already.  I would not have been happy with a panni only but if that is all I could get then it is far better than nothing.  I think people here just care about supporting others and want to make sure that everyone is informed.

Sounds like this is a very sensitive issue for you and someone touched a nerve.

Good luck to you on whatever you do

Topic: RE: Post surgery meds and stomach
I was given a muscle relaxant for three days post tummy tuck.  It was a HUGH help!  All if your muscles are very tight post surgery and this helped so much...I would take it along with the pain meds.  He doesn't give it for more than 3 days because of the chance of urinary retention.  It helped tons and I would not hesitate take it.

Good luck to you

Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery Health Insurance
I had it with my ps.  My surgeon required it.  It cost  me about 250 dollars.  It wasn't an option and it gave me peace of mind.  I didn't have any idea what company it was, they set the whole thing up.  If u can find it I would say go for it...is was well worth the peace of mind.

any chance you can pay the difference and upgrade to a total tummy tuck?  Think about it..I think you would be alot happier and you are so lucky that your insurance is paying for alot of it.

good luck to you

So sorry you are going through this.  I did look at your pix and you were very swollen looking.  You must be so uncomfortable.  I am glad that you went and had it checked out.  Do you feel better after he removed that fluid?  when is he taking you back to surgery?  Hang in there...things have to get better.

Keep us posted.

Maybe it is the binder too.  I always wear a tshirt under the binder...super helpful.  Did you start a new medication in the last day or two?  anything new you are putting on your skin?  Need to see your doc to figure this out.  Try benadry to help with the itching until then.
best of luck

Topic: RE: Negotiate rates?
I think that price is very good.  I too was totally self pay.  My insurance covered nothing.  I did not negotiate with my surgeon.  I think it is alittle insulting to them..but that is just me!  I wouldn't do it.  I would negotiate at a garage sale but not with the surgeon working on my body.  That's just me.

Perhaps you can get some luck with your insurance.

good luck to you

I have my same bb but he moved it.  I think it is really cool that it is the same one but in a new place.  My PS said that the BB is the hardest part .  I agree with Laura...make sure you get a PS that does good bb's.  I don't think they all do them well.

good luck to you

Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery after Pulmonary Embolisms from Bypass??
I think the only way to get rid of those problem areas is surgery.

I know it must be scarey the thought of surgery after having those complications.  But you are alot lighter in weight now.and being so big is a hugh risk factor in getting clots.  I would get a surgeon that you totally trust and talk to him about this.  They can be more agressive with anti clotting measures for you.  As long as you have a great doc and some serious discussions about this complication, I would be ok going for it.  I would want to know exactly what measures they were gonna take to prevent clots.  You are smart to be concerned about this but there are absolutely measures that can be done to prevent this.  I am a RN and used to work on a surgical floor.  We took care of alot of patients that were very high risk for clots.
good luck to you!

Topic: RE: can you share your tummy tuck stories with me
Hi Teresa,

I am almost 3 months out from an extended TT and full back lipo.  I am thrilled with the results but I have to warn you...it wasn't an easy journey for me.  I had major buyers remorse the first week..thought what the heck did I do?  and I paid for this?  But I don't feel that way anymore.  I had alot of pain from the lipo especially.  I stayed in the hospital one night...couldn't pee post surgery so I came home with a urinary cathetar for 5 days.  I am a RN so it was no big deal.  One of my nurse friends took it out for me at home.  I did not have any drains.  My doc does an extra step so you don't need a drain..I loved that!
My stomach was very tight at first..couldn't even stand up straight.  but this is normal.
My husband was home with me for the first 5 days. ....and I really needed someone to help me.  So make sure you have someone at home with you. I did not use a special chair like alot of people do..I just was in my bed with extra pillow.
My doc made it mandatory that we get a special Plastic surgery insurance. It was about 250.00 but it covered any complications that we have.  It was a real peace of mind.  Luckily I did not have any...but it was nice to know that it was there if I needed it.
Please feel free to ask any questions...I asked alot preop of others and it was a hugh help.
good luck to you!

Just wondering...is your insurance covering any of this since you have the hernias?  How much were you quoted?

good luck to you..this is  a great journey!

Topic: RE: Tomorrow makes one week out from tt!...
About a week after my surgery I had what is know as pitting edema....that might be the mushiness that you are talking about.  It is swelling that when you put alittle pressure on your finger that is touching your stomach and then take it away..it leaves an indent...that is pitting edema..and that is what I had for about a week..then the swelling went down.  Does that sound like what you have?  Mine was at about the time that you are now in your post op recovery.

you sounds like you are doing great!
