I am awaiting surgery. Pretty sure I'm going with VSG. I currently take 1000mg metformin a day.  I have a lot of GI side effects from it.  Was wondering if the side effects of the metformin were worse after surgery or the same?   

Not sure if this helps or not, but I have PCOS and have been taking 2000mg metformin/day. I had VSG on May 8 and my doctor had me stop metformin completely.

 Did you have a hard time loosing weight before surgery?  I do.  I can diet and exercise and my weight barely moves.  I think the metformin seems to help a little.  How are you loosing after surgery?  I'm hoping I lose quicker after the surgery.  

My dr took me off metformin after surgery too.  I could not lose weight prior to surgery although metformin helped me not gain.  I have lost 15lbs since surgery 2 weeks ago...

 Great!!  That makes me hopeful.  I was just afraid I'd have to work as hard as before surgery to lose weight afterwards.  Does that make sense?
