PCOS & periods...

I am going crazy here! I have had my period every other week & it lasts 2, sometimes 3 weeks!!! (since surgery) It's not light either. There were a few times that my mom actually wanted to take me to the hospital. I am almost 4 months out & have lost 81 lbs so far. But in the last year, I have lost 104 lbs. So, I don't know if it has to do with that or if it is the PCOS. (I was diagnosed when I was 15) I'm also on b/c. I take Ovcon 35. My gyn told me that that's the best pill for me right now...but it doesn't seem like it. I asked her about the constant bleeding & she said that if it's still happening after January then she wants to do a ultrasound & some other tests...Uhh, hello??? I've already lost one ovary (when I was 13 due to a massive cyst) Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this & if it's normal...because I'm about going out of my mind here! Thanks ahead of time to all who answer! ~Trish

The bleeding could be due to that you may not be absorbing an effective dose of the pill since we do have malaborbtion, plus having PCOS doesn't help. Talk to your OB/GYN. I started bleeding mid-cycle with the pill and as soon as I was under 200lbs he put me on the Ortho-Evra patch. I haven't had any problems with it at all and I'm just starting my 3rd month on it. Good luck. Kristy 248/158.5/140

FOR GOD SAKE GO TO A SPECIALIST or another OB.....she seems way too unconcerned....especially if you've already lost one ovary. 'What will it hurt to get it checked out NOW? Especially since heavy, frequent bleeding, even in those of us with PCOD, can be a sign of uterine cancer. Don't freak but get it checked now. Don't wait till January. Ann
