Hi! I've been here before but I can't remember with what variation of my name, so I lost my old account. I had open RNY on December 21, 2012. I lost 110 pounds to date. I had an awesome surgeon, Dr. Sonpal, in Cleveland. No complications, pure delight when I could move around so much better.

We moved back to Washington state last March. I kept losing slowlyyyyy.... I got pretty cavalier about needing to see a bariatric specialist out here. I was doing that good.

Lately I've been stuck at 355-361....I DO NOT want to gain back...please dear God. I noticed that my Vagus nerve must have grown back (grin)...I get sooooo hungry, and I'm eating bigger portions. Can't they just cut the darn thing out so I have to force feed? I'd rather that. I do not want to be in love with food at all. I miss when it was really hard to eat.

I have osteoarthritis in my spine and joints. I see a specialist for pain meds.  I am just starting to really get around, do chores, actually shop with my hubby and carry in bags. But I wonder if my pain meds is desensitizing the discomfort I need to feel in my pouch?  On the other hand, with everything sagging south, I'm not sure how well I could do without them yet. I've tried cutting back, and it hurts to move around in no time at all.

So I mentioned to my pain specialist that I doing very well, but I was concerned about my appetite returning, and how I really wanted to continue losing....and I was more interested in getting the sag pressure off my spine. He was delighted at that, referred me on the spot to a great doc. Told me that I might be able to get a volume study done, that it was a good time to see a surgical specialist.

I followed up, jumped through the normal hoops to get the referral approved. A secretary called me and told me that in her opinion, he wouldn't be doing a darn thing, there was no hope for a revision because of the kind of surgery I had.

Whaaat? Can't they put a garden hose over the tube? I'd rather puke up than stuff down anyday.

I have to drink when I eat, too. I just haven't got the wait an hour thing down. I use soup as an excuse

I see Dr. Dally March 21. We have to travel many miles to Vancover.  I hope he'll be able to get me going straight.

love

You are in the very best of hands with Dr. Daly I've had him for a couple of different surgeries and have gone to his office and seen a few of the other surgeons there. They are a fantastic group, if anything can be done to help you he will come up with it. I know one option is a lapband over bypass altho I'm no proponent of the band because it didn't work for me, but that wasn't his fault, my body just didn't like it. So He has a very strict pre op regimen and he will tell you NO drinking with meals, that just washes the food thru before you can feel satisfied. I just don't have a drink with me when I eat. If I do get horribly thirsty or dry mouth I take a tiny sip but just enough to wet my mouth, it really does make a huge difference. Anyway Just wanted you to know he is a great doc, kinda quiet and shy but very caring!

Thank you so much, Hislady! I could not feel more confident now, and its good to know what the expectations are for my part.

Yup! Yup! You were so right...I came home from seeing Dr. Dally with much hope, and with a "head" revision. Like my Mom said, too, "The party's over, darlin."  I was using my bypass the wrong way.

Its hard to change new bad habits, but I don't want to go back to where I was EVER.

Thanks again.

So glad you liked him. The band didn't work for me but that's because I couldn't get the exercise because of severe arthritis. There's a great support group there too, call the office and they can give you details. I thought I was getting an RNY before hand so went to their meetings and they were really informative. I think it's a multi surgery group now but there's always somebody willing to help you when you need it or have a question. Good luck to you and get those old habits broken, you'll do great. I know the few lbs I did lose was when I journaled every nibble, it's so easy to forget when you aren't writing it down.

Thanks so much again! It really is easier to deal with when you write things down. I understand about the limits of arthritis, too. The bypass itself helped a lot, at least to get 100lbs off my joints, that's why I'm frantic not to roll backwards.

 Hi
I was having trouble getting back to eating less.  I started eating almost all protein, omlete for breakfast, cheese stick snack, meat either chicken or beef roast lunch and dinner.  yogurt for dessert.  lots of vitamin zero water, and water/tea.  Add veggies to each meal.  I lost ten pounds in four weeks.

Good luck.
