Preparation for revision question

Did you go through the same preparations for revision that you did for your initial surgery? Support groups, meetings with nutritionist, etc.? Many thanks in advance.

My original surgery was in 2007 and was with a different surgeon. I actually went through a LOT more requirements for the revision than I had to back then.

I think it is according to your surgeon's requirements. I only needed to meet with their RD before surgery to make sure that I was ok with owing back to basics. The requirements were probably minimized because I was revising due to recurrent bleeding ulcers and not for weight regain. All that my insurance company required was documentation of treatment of multiple episodes over the last few years. They denied initially, but approved my revision after my surgeon had a Peer-to-Peer  discussion with the insurance MD. I would discuss these things with your surgeon to find out what they require. They might let some things slide if you demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the requirements for success.

good Luck

I had a different doctor and went through all the same things again.  Mostly just to meet insurance requirements.

I had to go through a six week class this time around (last time it was support groups).  I am so happy I attended--things have changed a lot since I had the surgery.  Good luck to you!

i didnt have to go to support group meeting, but did have to see nutritionist, ekg, psyche clearance, blood work, and sleep study.

my pshyche was pretty easy. When he saw i was cleared in 2010 for lap band he just asked me how i felt about the surgery and if i had any issues with limiting my food intake on the lap band. he signed off and i was good to go. I think the do all of this for the insurance company. Sugery date set for Jan 13th!
