Introducing myself - Lap-Band/VSG (Expat Insurance)
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the revision board. I was banded in 2008 with Dr. Gorecki in New York. I was very successful with my WLS. I lost 83lbs, from my highest of 230 to 147lbs. I just had a baby (15 months), and my band slipped with moderate dilatation. I need to have my band removed. I am thinking of doing a gastric sleeve since restriction seems to work well for me. I am up to 194lbs, and am doing my best to not climb any higher, but know that will be difficult.
I do have questions regarding those who are living and working outside of the US. I do not currently have US insurance, but am thinking of buying the Cigna International. Does anyone have experience with this insurance? It seems cheaper than the Aetna International. I'd love to hear from expats or folks who had revision abroad. My second option is having surgery in the Dominican Republic. I'd love to hear about the experience of others. Also, what are the costs for VSG revision in DR and Mexico?
