Well its hard to believe that exactly 1 week ago today - and at this exact time - I was literally walking into the OR.

I wasn't nervous at all - which is kind of strange - but I was relaxed and ready to change my life and start living!

It has been a great experience - and I feel wonderful - considering surgery was only a week ago.

  • I'm eating without difficulty
  • I'm drinking without difficulty (usually getting 4 to 6 glasses a day so far)
  • I do forget to eat - as I have not been hungry once since the surgery
  • I have lost 24.6 lbs since starting SlimTime Shakes on Jan 9th
  • I have lost 10.2 lbs since my surgery date
  • I can see a difference already in my face when I look in the mirror (I was a bit worried, when I was in the hospital - my face looked saggy - but it has caught up to me - and has tightened up)
  • I sleep really really good now at night - don't even wake up to pee
  • Have lots of energy during the day
  • Very little pain - and have not taken any pain killers since Thursday - I really didn't feel good when taking them - I do take Tylenol usually once or twice a day
  • I'm walking a little bit every day
  • When out shopping for a bit yesterday - felt good to get out
  • I do feel kind of "drunk" or "groggy" when I first get up - and from what I can see - it's likely still all the anesthesia and pain killers making their way out of my body
  • The gas - is nothing like it was the first 2 days - that was awful - today it is manageable - walking is the key - and just moving in general
  • I've already noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit - YAY!

I think that about sums it up!

Thank you all for the wonderful messages - they have really meant a lot to me - and have helped me through the process

Thanks for posting this. How are things going now for you? My lapband had to be removed 3.5 years ago. I joined a bootcamp class when I knew I'd be losing it & the trainers been great in trying to help me through this. My weight has gone up 45lb to 260lbs. Went ahead and called my WLS about revision and I'm just starting the process of going for RNY. With the weight gain, I'm back on my CPAP machine, had an upper GI that led to an endoscopy. My WLS said he'll see me this coming Tuesday to discuss the RNY. When the lapband was done, it was as a cash pay. Removal was covered under insurance & was done as soon as that surgeon (not my WLS due to the type of insurance I used to have) could get me in his schedule. So I'm unsure how long this process will take to get the RNY. It's alright as this time is needed for me to wrap my head around it all. Your post helped a lot. Hope things are going well!

Things are great - I am so glad I did this - I wish I had done it in 2013 instead of the band.

No regrets - no issues - no complications

My process took under a year from referral to surgery - but I kept calling for cancellations.

Once the referral goes in - you should get a letter in about a month with your orientation date - but that all depends on what centre you get assigned to - I was at Toronto Western.

Good luck - and keep in touch - you won't regret your decision - I promise :)

Glad it's going well for you! They already started the process. When I asked about the insurance waiting period, they said there is none for our particular insurance. They've scheduled the battery of appts for me (psych, nutrition, p/t, etc) & I'm to lose 13lbs Pre-op. She said this could be done in early May. We're actually going on Vacation to Mexico shortly after that, so will need to wait till July. Still, that's only 4 mos away, wow!
