Hey Dee, I'm an RN in Labor and Delivery here in Orlando, I just don't really check this board that often. I had Lap-band over 15 months ago and it has been great!!! Ryan 202/132/125
Topic: RE: RNY while in Nursing School
Hi Holly, I had the lap-band done during spring break of nursing school so I only had a week of recovery time and I was fine. I know the lap-band is a shorter recovery period, but I think that as long as you take care of yourself during the three weeks you have off it should be fine. I do just want to caution you about the ob clinicals. I am a L&D nurse and you have to hold people's legs up while they push (a little graphic I know) which can be very difficult on someone who did not just have surgery let alone someone who did. I know after my surgery I was not allowed to lift anything over 15 lbs for 6 weeks and I imagine the RNY restrictions would be similar. I hope all goes well for you and good luck with school and the surgery. Ryan 202/150/130
    Topic: RE: NCLEX
Well, most of you don't know me, so I will introduce myself. Obviously my name is Ryan, I'm 23 years old, and I had Lap Band surgery on 3/15/05 (did this on spring break during nursing school). Well I just finished nursing school and am scheduled to take the state boards on September 26th. I am so nervous and I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers. I would really apprecaite it. I already have a job in L&D (I did my practicum there and absolutely loved it), so any of the L&D nurses I would appreciate some insight on that as well. I am so excited to see that there is a message board on here especially for nurses, that I just found. Well I wish all of you continued success on your weight loss endeavors, whatever method you choose. Thank you in advance fo the support. Ryan 202/155/125-130
