I Get 90 Grams of Protein a Day on Full Liquid Diet 5 Days Post-Op..HOW DO I DO IT???

Hello All,
Thought I should share with you how I get 90 grams of protein in a day. Like you all I have tryed EVERY protien mix and shake in the world, some I liked and some I did not. I tryed them with water, Chrystal lite and milk. I found now that its really hot outside milk does not sit well with me. It's heavy and thick. Well I remembered a long time ago before I even started to research WLS I used to go to Smoothie King and get a smoothie called the LOW CARB GLADIATOR in strawberry cream. Now they sell it in sample packets and in a huge tub, they also have different flavors. I started off buying the sample packets, so here at home I mix it with 8 oz of water and freaze it in my ice trays, put it in my blender and make a smoothie.

WOW!!!  How do you make it?  What kind of protein do you use?
I need to get in more protein and have not found a drink that I like.
Maybe this will work for me too!!!
The protein powder is called GLADIATOR. They sell it at Smoothie King. You can by a huge tub or small one serving packets to try out. I mix it with 8oz water, freeze it in a ice cube tray then blend it in a blender to make a smoothie. Taste sooo good and refreshing. My son adds real strawberries to his.

There's a smoothie king in Owings Mills. Reisterstown Rd. I'd be willing to bet there are more. Go to their website and check.

What should you eat for dinner tonight? How do you make a good protein shake? And just exactly what IS quinoa? The answers to all this and more can be found at Bariatric Foodie!

This sounded good so I googled and unfortunately I don't have one near me but I did contact them to see if they could send me a sample and if there was a way to order online.  But in the mean time -- for the gladiator they use a whey and egg substitute base and then add in 2 kinds of fruit if wanted.  So i'm assuming their flavors come from flavors of whey.  So if you get the egg substitute and get some fruit and maybe a sweetener with your protein then I think it would be a little experiment but it would be good!  I noticed that on the back of the egg white substitute carton they do say its good for making shakes and my husband had one and said it wasnt bad at all.

The powdered protein Gladiator that you can buy comes in 4 flavors. I buy the strawberry cream mix it with water and freeze it. I don't add any fruit since I can't have that yet and it taste just fine.

Thanx i actually googled it and they do have locations in Maryland 3 not far from me. Thanks

When I was a little girl, my grandmother used to put raw eggs in milkshakes.  They tasted so thick and good!  She also put raw eggs in her homeade ice cream.  As an adult, I've always heard it was less than safe to use raw eggs.  I'm just wondering if the egg substitute is safe?? If so, it would probably be a good way to add protein and maybe get a flavor similar to grandma's :)

My son loves Smoothie King!!

Yes it is!  Egg substitutes are pasturized so they are safe to add in raw!

There are tons of locations across the country.  The NW and North Central are lacking any.

They have other high protein drinks but the calories are a bit steep.  There is a store a few hours from me I will have to pick up some of the Gladiator when I am there.

90 grams of protein is great early out but it has to be divided up into numerous sittings. If you are just having it in 2 sittings - 45 mg each, you aren't going to absorb it.  You need to stick to no more than 30mg at a time and space it through out the day.

That's not entirely true. Although I'm not good enough at explaining to say why. Either way with someone five days out I doubt they could take in 45g of protein in one sitting. My 42g shake takes a minute. I'd imagine she's sipping for a time, thus spreading out the protein absorption. But only she can tell.

You are right! I do not drink it all at once, I do sip it throughout the day!

I thought so. If not you'd be the new contender for the title of "Wonder Pouch"

Actually I think that strategy is very smart early on when food is iffy. You should eat food as time goes on but for now you are ROCKIN IT!

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.
There's a Smoothie King about 3 miles from my house.  I've been dying to get over there and check it out.  I think I should make time between classes to run over there this week!
