Question about Nioxin ...

Do any of you use or used this product? How did it work? I thinking about getting it.
Thanks,

I have used it..It seemed the first week it did great my hair felt so soft and it had alot of volume..Then as i continued to use it my hair started to shed really bad..I couldnt afford to lose anymore hair so i stopped using it..IT DID start making my  hair a bit dry too..I dont know if it caused my hair to shed or it was gonna shed like that anyway,,,but i was too scared to find out..I do hear of some people who swear by it though..It doesnt hurt to try.
I currently use the product.  My daughter is a hairstylist and suggested I use it when she cut my hair last week. I've used it 3 times this week and it works GREAT!  Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth it. If you know someone else that uses it, you might want to split the cost of the product with them.  A little goes a LONG way!

My daughter is also here as MSMIMAFIA-- Kelli Smith fromMichigan.  If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask her!

Good luck with your hair and your weight loss journey!~

When I started losing my hair, I used generic brand from target rogaine. I does not stop you from losing hair but it slows down how much hair falls out, and it helps my hair grow back quicker along with me taking 4mg biotin. I only needed to use the rogaine stuff for about 3 months , which is what comes in the box.  I think it was well worst the $19.00, it cost me. I still take the biotin daily because it not only helps my hair, but it has other benefits.  Give it a try.  I hope this information helps you out.

I have been a hairstylist for over 20 years, I have used Nioxen in the past when I had cancer and started using it again before my RNY almost 7 months ago, I also take Biotin along with my other vitamines and try to get my protein in, I noticed only a tiny bit of extra shedding that has already thickened right back up. My sister in law is also a stylist and as she was cutting my hair for me tonight she was remarking on how thick my hair has stayed and talking about all the clients she has seen loose so much post op. I swear by Nioxen, it is well worth the cost. Call around to different salons and compare prices and look for it on sale, my salon has it for a great price right now in a gift pack.
do you find the biotin makes your other body hair such as legs etc grow thicker?

Merrie
When I was taking the biotin, It did seem to help the growth rate of the hair on my head a bit, but I started to get a lot of facial hair growth, so I stopped using it.  It did not seem to cause any change in the hair on my legs, underarms, etc... but THAT would have been FAR preferable to growing "sideburns" and a "moustache" (which appears to be permanent, BTW, so I end up bleaching it)!!

I think I do have to shave my legs and arm pits a little more often too, hair thickness is determined by the size of the folicle so you can not really make it grow "thicker" and you only have so many hair folicles, so no matter what, more hairs can not grow in, the hairs you already have just could grow faster. Females growing facial hair is more of a hormonal thing, I would think is more related to the hormonal changes also caused by dramatic hair loss. I would rather shave more often and wax my lip than be bald.
