milk sugar

I know this has been on here before but I can't remember the answer...sorry to repost but...

Lately I have been flat out of cash to buy my Isopure Smoothies (YUM) so I've been drinking the powder mix for my protein shakes.  They have about 15 grams of protein per scoop of powder but when I add two cups of milk that bumps it up to around 30 (given that one cup of milk has 8 grams of protein).  However, the milk has a lot of "carbs" in it.  I realize this isn't a true carb but I wondered if it negates the effect of the protein...not really negates...but can't think of a better word.

Long story short...is that too much sugar given I try to drink two of the shakes a day (with two cups of milk per shake).

Thanks bunches!

Lactose is a naturally occurring carb found in dairy products. It is not the same as a refined sugar that you need to avoid (like corn syrup, sucrose, or the others).

Similarly, complex carbs found in fruits and veggies are fine and don't "negate" anything in your eating plan.
