High white blood cell count?!

So I'm 5 weeks post surgery and I've been informed that I have a high white blood cell count. I have researched some possible causes of this and am freaking out. Has anybody here had this problem post surgery? Other than infection related, what are the surgery related causes for this? I understand this kind of problem could be caused by several things and lukemia is one of them, and bone marrow disease is another, hence my freaking out. I do have an underactive thyroid issue so maybe that is an issue?

Usually means an infection of some kind.  What did your doc say?

That I need another CBC count to verify. I have an appointment on thursday with them.

How high is your WBC?

 I had a surgery about 5 years ago and didn't feel quite right a couple of weeks after - they told me my white blood cell count was crazy high and I ha an infection - later that day I literally sprung a leak from the incision site - some antibiotics and a week of leaking and I was all better....  U
