I know this sounds weird, but sometimes in the beginning, and especially now a few months later, I can actually feel my pouch and valves contracting and releasing food into my intestines.... or at least I imagine that is what I am feeling.  I can feel stuff drip too.  It might be crazy, but if I fill my pouch with food, and then feel the gurgles and contractions, my pouch feels empty when it's all over.

My pouch is just under my left ribcase, so I know it's at least the right general area I am feeling this in.  Can anyone else feel what's going on down there?  Or am I just a head-case LOL?!

My understanding is that our pouch does not contract at all... the liquid just slides through and the food is only limited in how quickly it slides through by the presence of the stoma (which is just tissue and therefore also does not contract).  There are no valves involved at all.  The intestines push food through, so that would be the only thing you could be feeling contracting... but that would be after the food has been releasedf rom the pouch.  Also, if you look at a diagram of yoiu altrered anatomy, you will see that although the pouch is under the left area, the initial area of intestine it gets released into runs toward the center.  Exact placement, I'm sure, though, varieds from person to person.

Whe I drink something very cold I can definitely feel it enter the intestine (but it is the temperature I feel) but I have never noticed feeling food move.

I know what you are saying- in the beginning I felt funny- it is like I could "feel" the food moving all the way down- I thought it was very interesting to feel this- kinda reminded me of being pregnant and felling the baby move- It went away pretty soon after I started eating regular food- or at least I got to where I dont notice it now...But you are NOT crazy...lol

This may be a strange way to put it, but to me it's more like a lava lamp. When a little food slides out of the pouch a gas bubble comes up, and I burp. That is what I imagine when I get the burps after I eat. Or my full signal.
