Flavored vs. Plain Greek Yogurt
I eat both the plain and the flavored....just depends on what my schedule is like for the day, if I'm going to have an intense gym workout or if I'm just plain lazy. Some day's I just don't have the extra 3-5 minutes to flavor and repackage the plain yogurt into my individual serving containers. I need the grab and go of the pre-flavored ones.
Mary is right though, both the Fage and the Chobani flavored yogurts have sugar....regular sugar (sucrose) added. If you read the ingredient labels, Chobani's has "cane juice" listing in the ingredients of its fruit filling....that's SUGAR folks. Fage has straight sugar listed as one of the ingredients of the fruit filling stuff. While a majority of the sugar in the flavored yogurts is more than likely lactose, they DO contain regular sugar (sucrose). I'm not saying don't eat it (because I do) but let's not pass out incorrect information.

I prefer the plain for 2 reasons, one I flavor it with SF puddings, jams, or flavourings or throw in a few fruit (later down the road) I also like it cause it's also savory, you can cook with it (makes for extra tender meats) or use it in place of sour cream.
I also don't care for the 'flavoured ones' they just don't taste really good to me, not like the non-greek kind so I just prefer my own flavours added to it

Yogurt naturally has sugar in it because of the lactose in the milk used to make it. There's no way to get a sugar-free yogurt (maybe soy yogurt but I am fairly certain there's still naturally occuring sugar). There is yogurt that has no added sugar but it will still have about 10-15g of sugar in a container.
I'll eat both flavored and unflavored. I use the unflavored for cooking, ranch dip, and as a sour cream substitute. When I get the fruit flavored ones, I only stir in a little of the sugary fruit. I prefer to eat a little bit of actual sugar as opposed to a lot of artificial sweeteners (my preference).
Since about six months out, I have been eating a generic (Shoprite) fat free vanilla Greek yogurt. 130 cals, 15 gms protein, and 17 gms of sugar. Before that, I used to use the plain Greek yogurt and use SF puddings and syrups and whatnot. Since I switched over to the flavored, I haven't looked back. I'll typically eat two of them with a 1/4 cup Ancient Grains granola mixed in. One for breakfast, and one usually as a late night snack four hours after dinner.
Total creature of habit here. Only plain greek yogurt. Bit of splenda, some fruit or all-fruit jam and maybe (or maybe not) an 1/8 of cup of Bear Naked Peak Protein granola. It comes in at the same calorie, protein and sugar grams everytime I eat it and I don't have to search food databases for the different flavors, etc. I like some things just because they remain the same and are so simple...like I said, such a creature of habit am I.
I LOVE Chobani flavored Greek yogurt and have one almost every day with fresh blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries. Since it's my afternoon "at work" snack, I like the convenience of having it ready to go, with no add-ins needed. In addition, I do not like artificial sweeteners, both because of the taste and because of the chemicals. I eat very little sugar (other than the natural sugars in fruit and milk), so it's my big treat for the day!
