I hate the taste of my chewable vitamins, but don't want to waste them, is it okay to swallow them whole? Will they be absorbed the same?

Yes they will. Bu they may be too big to take in one piece.  Break them up.

I take Optisource chewables.  I get them at Walgreens.  They remind me of a candy I used to eat growing up so I like them.  Kind of orange tasting.

You need EIGHT of those a day to get what the ASMBS recommends, plus still need to take calcium citrate and B12.  Just wanted to make sure you were aware of this, because the label on the product is very deceptive.

I HATED the chewables. I tried a few different brands with no luck. My kids would cheer me on when it was time--became quite the silly family event. I was so happy when I was allowed to switch to the pills at 1 month. I happily swallow the multiple doses every day as a reward for not having to deal with the chewables. Hopefully you can find a brand that works for you and meets the requirements or move on to capsules down the road. Good luck!

Well, aren't I just the wierdo then? I love my chewable Centrum silvers and my chewable calcium and my chewable Vitamin C. As a matter of fact, if I don't end my meal with my chewable calcium, I get this bizarre feeling that my meal isn't somehow complete and I go searching for my calciums.

Ain't it wonderful (and we should celebrate) just how different we all are?

You can swallow them whole, but aren't they awfully big?

i will be honest, i hated them too...wouldn't take them for like 2 weeks, then i felt like i couldn't get out of bed...what i do now is the celebrate ENS+Protein...it's more expensive than the chewables, but the vanilla cake batter flavor is soooooo good...it's got ur multivitamin, ur calcium citrate & 25 grams of whey isolate protein!  i hope this helps!!!

I had to take the chewables for 2 weeks right home from the hospital...the only way i could get them down was to put in mouth, take huge swig of water, chew up vitamin with water in mouth and swallow water and vitamins at the same time...I was so glad to be able to get to the swallow pills

You want to take calcium citrate as we can absorb those.  We cannot absorb calcium carbonate which is what most calciums are.  Just an FYI.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have no problem swallowing a chewable multivit, I was just concerned that they may not absorb the same as if they were chewed. Glad I don't have to buy more at this time.
