Drain removal pain extreme!!!

I had my drain removed today after having it for 4 weeks due to an infection and leak. It was soooooooo painful when the doc removed it which was about 4 hours ago. I am in extreme pain now. Worse than after surgery or when the doc cleaned out my infection. I am wondering if it hurts so bad due to having it in so long or if I should be concerned. Has anyone else experienced this?

So sorry that you are in pain!!

I know that really doesn't help much, but I can't imagine it being left in for so long...

My guess is that the pain is due to both the infection and that same infection necessitating the drain be left in place all that time...

Has there been no pain medication prescribed or provided?

Everyone is entitled to my opinion...

My doc did not give me anymore pain meds but I just took some of my pain med from after surgery. Unfortunately I only have 1 or 2 doses left.

I had several drains in for about 4 weeks after my TT years ago.  I had absolutely no pain when they were taken out or afterwards.  I'm wondering if it was due to your infection.  I
m so sorry your in pain but if it persists I would call him back or go to your PCP.  I hope you feel better soon.
