Baltimoreans unite!

Does anyone know of a support group in the Baltimore area or anyone interested in forming one?
Hopkins Bayview has meetings twice a month, but they tend to be more guest speaker-lectures than the kind of caring/sharing tips thing I'm looking for.    I'm three weeks out from RNY and would really love to connect personally with some other folks in any and all stages of this process.

Interested?

My support group is open but it is switching more to topic oriented, which is probably good when you have lots of people and only one hour.

I'd love to form a group if it does, in fact, end up being in Baltimore. My schedule doesn't permit a lot of travel outside the city for a while.
I would love to have a support group in the Baltimore area, I had my surgery at Uof MD medical surgery and live in Annapolis. I'm sure there are others too!

I'm in PG County but Baltimore is only a hop skip and jump away from me.  My support group is guest speaker oriented as well (which I like) but I'd like to meet folks in person and exchange tips or just talk.

Not to corrupt anybody but a post-WLS Starbucks meetup might be kind of awesome.
No judgement for my iced venti skinny caramel macchiato and I'm THERE.

I love Starbucks and do not feel it would corrupt me at all!

Well that's four of us already!  I think I'll post a similar message on some of the other surgery forums and see if we can up the count.  Then if others could maybe identify their locations, we can try to pick someplace not too far from anyone.

Support group at a Starbuck's?  Well now you are speaking my language.  As long as no one tries to get between me and my skinny cinnamon dolce latte.

Now if we could just locate a Starbucks.  They are so few and far between you know.

I feel ya on the Bayview support -- I had surgery there too.  I'm a Germantown gal and that drive (even with the ICC) is a bit much for the format.  I would be willing to make the trek to have some "REAL" talk though.  Sending you friend request and am more than willing to listen/share my journey

Oh how I would do anything to meet up with people in the area. I'm in baltimore county, but don't mind the drive if it's for this reason. I'm still pre op but getting to meet people who have already been there, done that would be amazing! Count me in!
There was a young lady that lives in Silver Springs that had her surgery in VA with the same doctor that I had mine with (she did the sleeve) that tired to organize something in the Columbia area on Saturday mornings.  I'm not sure what ever happened with that.  I do know that she sent me a message that she's having problems with kidney stones and has to have them lasered but I'll drop her a message and see if she and a few other folks I know in the PG County / Montgomery Co. area that had WLS in VA with my doctor/group would be interested in doing something up on this end (a few of them have asked me about stuff in our support group).

MBsRNY, I'll send you a friend request.  Please let me know if you want any help with getting a location/date/place or other planning help!  I'd really like to see this happen!

OK...I"m thinking there's critical mass here, but pretty spread out...from Annapolis to Joppa, to Germantown.

Since there appears to be a core of die-hard STarbucks fans, let me propose that we meet at the Starbucks in the Canton area of Baltimore to start.  Once we see who comes and get a better feel for where everyone is located, we might be able to figure out an optimum meeting place, minimizing the most people's trek.  That Starbucks strikes me as a good one, as it is located in a shopping strip on Boston Street, with plenty of available parking.

Options for times to meet:  Wednesday evenings?  Sunday afternoons?   I, unfortunately, can't make it any weekday evening except Wednesdays, as I commute M,Tu, Thurs and Fri to DC and don't get back till fairly late.    Any strong preference?

I posted a message on the VSG , lapband and REalize band forums as well and there have been a few others who are interested there.

I can do Sunday afternoon but not Wednesday evening.

ETA: In reality I could probably do outside Baltimore as long as it is relatively close to the 95 corridor. So if we have more folks further south Columbia would work for me.

...or we could stay with Baltimore ;). I live near Canton now.

What should you eat for dinner tonight? How do you make a good protein shake? And just exactly what IS quinoa? The answers to all this and more can be found at Bariatric Foodie!

I know that Starbuck's.  The ladies at work like that one because of the available parking if they make a mid-day jaunt.

I can do Sunday's.   I can also do Wednesday's but I wor****il 6.

I certainly don't mind a trip back into the city on a Sunday.
I am planning to have my surgery at Sinai and they have support meetings but nothing regular.  I wouldn't mind gettig together with others who have either had surgery or are going to have surgery. I live close to I83 and I do not mind driving to meet with others. I work from home and any chance to get out is great.

Sundays work for me!  I workout with my trainer Wed, Thurs, and Friday afternoons so unless ya'll wanna revel in my exercise "essence"....those days don't really work for me....lol.

I can also do Saturdays as well.  My Saturday morning workout is over by 9am so I could defunk myself and meet too espically since I like going to the Amish Market in Laurel on Saturday mornings also.
