HELP!!! New to the group

My name is brandy I am 31 and live in Florida. My bmi is around 45 and I really want to have rny. My insurance will cover as long as my pcp has everything together. I have never really had a pcp for any length of time though. I am starting with a new doctor this Saturday. Do I bring up wls at that 1st appointment? Last month I started with a pcp and he was 100% against wls so I decided he wasnt a good fit for me. He did have me go have lab work done and everything came back ok. So when I go to the doctor on Saturday I plan to have my records from my obgyn and the lab results. Should I mention my desire for wls though? I know this pcp refers a lot of people to the surgeon I'd like to use.
I'd mention it, sure.  For one thing, if he is against WLS, you want to know that so you can find another PCP like you did with the other one.  And good for you, by the way, for finding a new doctor and looking for one that will support you.

Also, I imagine you want to get the ball rolling as soon as you can.  So why wait to bring it up?  Be up front with him, tell him you want to have WLS and want a PCP that can support you in your efforts to get healthy.  Let him know what your insurance company needs and tell him what surgeon you'd like to use.

Thanks so much! What generally do the insurance companies need. I know mine requires 6 months of medical weight loss documentation from my pcp. Other than that Im not sure.
Yes, talk to the doctor about all your concerns including your desire to have WLS.  The two of you need to get on the same page which can't happen if you're holding back.

When I made up my mind I wanted to pursue WLS, I also knew I would need to find a new PCP.  On my first visit with her I told her about my plans and the need to begin a 6 month supervised diet as required by my insurance company.  You did the right thing looking for a new doctor.  Don't let one doctor's biases deter you from your goal.
