What happens after approval???

So I posted yesterday about being approved same day paperwork was submitted. The date my surgeon's office gave the insurance company was July 23, 2012. Does this mean that is my actual surgery date? Also, what happens between approval and surgery? I know I have to have a meeting with the surgeon and my preop bloodwork and tests but is there anything else? I'm still waiting on a call back from their office so I can ask them but thought I would ask here while I'm waiting. Thanks!

For me I just had to do a two week pre op diet between being approved and surgery. The day I was approved I called my Doc's office and they put me on the pre op diet that day and I had surgery 2 weeks later.

Good luck with your stuff.

you get to sit around and wait and wonder what your new life will be like.
Then you will start stressing out about having to have a surgery and what if things don't workout.
Then you may have to have some preop tests done.
Then you get to register at the hospital
Then you get ZERO sleep the night before surgery
Then show up at the hospital take a drug induced nap while they cut up your inards and rearrange things.
Then you wake up and want more drugs cause it hurts.
Then you get to go home and learn how to deal with the eating and drinking
Then you will start losing weight LOTS OF IT!
Then you come to OH and ***** about Burping farting and your inability to POO.
Then you get to buy new clothes FROM NORMAL STORES!
THen you get to put up with me telling you to enter a 5K!
Then you realize You can do a 5K
Then you really start to enjoy your new life,

Ummmm I think I covered it all.

My surgeons office informed me that they give a date to the insurance company when they submit your package for approval. Once approved, they discussed with me the dates that were available and we picked the one that worked best for my schedule. When it was all scheduled, they informed the insurance company of the new date and off we went.

Good luck!

The doctor has to give the insurance company a date.  My date was July 2.  Had an appointment with the surgeon and she gave me a date of July 17.  The surgeon gave me papers (surgical clearance) for my pcp to fill out.  Then there is pre-op blood work at the hospital, the liquid diet 2 weeks before sugery and done.
