GAS!!!!!!

I am just short of 2 weeks post-op, and I am still having this gas running around in my stomach/chest/throat.  Is this normal?  How long before it goes away?  What can I do?  I was told I could not use the gas-x, but I don't know why.  HELP!!! This is not comfortable one bit.

"For I know the Plans I have for you" ...Jeremiah 29:11

Wow....I don't know why you can't use gas-x. I'd ask your Dr about that.
Try some peppermint tea. That should help some.
Make sure you are up moving around, walking, etc. Also, how are your bm's? Not to be too nosey, but could be that you are constipated. I use the gas-x strips that dissolve on the tongue. Ask your md about those since they are not a pill, I'm assuming that's why he doesn't want you using them?? Good luck. I know it can be painful!

If you are talking about the gas from blowing up the belly, then that does not go into the intestinal track and the only way to get it to move is to have the muscles use it up and walking is the only way to get the muscles to use up the stored gas.  GAS-X only helps the gas in the intestinal tract.  There are strips and chewables for that kind of gas.  So if you are having gas pains or what I call gas pockets that move, then the only way to get it to go away is to walk.
I remember being pretty gassy for awhile. I farted and burped for what felt like months. It went away eventually.
