Feeling sick

I had my gall bladder out on Monday and have felt sick to my stomach since. Today I have been having a lot of diarrhea which is weird since I haven't really put much in my body this week. Is it ok to take immodium this soon after having your gall bladder out? How long does it take for your body to adjust to not having a gall bladder? Any other helpful tips to get through this period?

I'm sorry your going through this and hope you get to feeling better soon. I was in horrible pain for about 7 days after I had mine out. I slept in a recliner and didn't even eat much of anything. I didn't take any immodium but I'm kinda anti-immodium because I'm scared to get stopped up. I stayed close to the bathroom though.

I also had my gallbladder out Monday. My pain med (Vicodin) usually constipates me and I didn't have a problem with diarrhea until yesterday (I took 2 half doses of pain meds). I understand that diarrhea can be a problem initially after gallbladder surgery, until our bodies adjust to it. Are you able to drink your fluids to keep from getting dehydrated? I've been eating bland food (oatmeal with some protein powder, 1/2 protein shake with water, graham crackers ) and have been less nauseated since Tuesday.

Honestly, I wouldn't take Imodium after only one day of diarrhea. Instead, avoid caffeine, up your fluids, eat bland foods like banana, your carb of choice (sweet potato, regular potato), and make sure you're avoiding high fat foods. See how you feel in a couple of days. Things will likely get back to normal in a day or two. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh so sorry to hear you are having trouble, I wish I could answer these questions for you, but they removed my gall bladder during my Rny and I haven't even really noticed it gone. Hope you get better soon!

It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. It requires sacrifice. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's WORTH IT! (Author Unknown). I feel this sums up my ongoing journey to a healthier me!

I did have diarrhea for a few weeks after having mine out. I did take Immodium and it helped. I run low on potassium already so it's really important that I don't have diarrhea for long.
