I hate (and love) shopping now

I started work yesterday and the uniform consists of black dress pant and a white button down short sleeve shirt.

I haven't worn any dress clothes (with the exception of going to my interviews) in over 8 years!!! I have a couple of really cute pair of NAVY pants, some TAN slacks, even some BLACK PINSTRIPES. Did I have ANYYYYYYY Black pants??? NO!! SO.....off to the mall I went.

GRRRRR

Headed straight for the "Plus" section. grabbed a few pair of 20s (they should fit right?) got to the dressing room, thinking "alright! this shopping trip is gonna last all of 10 minutes!" ummm NO. The 20s didn't fit....off to find some 18s.....back to the dressing room....DANG IT--still didn't fit.

And THOSE were the smallest in the plus section........UGHHHHHHHHHH now, I had to SEARCH THE ENTIRE STORE instead of the limited, small, tiny little old plus size section.

ANDDDDDD THAT lasted forever!!! FINALLY found the dress slacks...grabbed a pair of 16s thinking they would never fit and I would have to go back to the 18s that were kinda big.

OMFG....the 16s fit me perfectly!!!!! SOOOOOO I was pretty happy that I got to shop in the "rest of the store" but have never been so overwhelmed in all of my adult life.....well, except for that one week every August where I have to take my kids to go school clothes shopping.....SAME panic attacks and EVERYTHING, except now its me. Thinking that people are going to be outside the dressing room wondering why someone MY SIZE is taking THOSE CLOTHES to try on!

I had the same sort of feeling buying my first smaller size too, in my head I was thinking the cashier woman must be thinking that how does that fat lady think those jeans will fit her... To the point where I wanted to say I know these look small, but I just tried them on and they're ally do fit! I know it was all in my head, but stress feeling was so real!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! cant wait to have that feeling lol

Congrats on your new size 16s.  Like all new experiences, it takes times to get comfortable with it.  Just keep trying again, and again until it becomes a habit.

Congrats!   That's a wonderful surprise to get!

Boy, can I relate. I had no idea all the choices I would have and how overwhelmed I would feel. It's a victory for me if I buy one or two things.

And I always expect a sales person to kick me out of the regular section. Not that any of them would, but I always wonder if they are watching me thinking "Lady, your section is over there".
That is one of the things I'm looking forward to. Being able to go to a store and buy a $3 tank instead of a $20 tank top. The choices will be amazing and I will be able to enjoy the social aspect of shopping with my friends more then j can now. (My size 8 and 10 friends help me at stores put together cute outfits).

Whoo hoo! What an accomplishment to get out of the plus sized section

I can totally relate!  I was in a store the other day that only went up to a size 14.  It felt really strange to be there and I almost ran out.  I thought the CSR must be thinking what is "fatty" doing here.
