Help! I have a date...

and he wants to take me to dinner... I can't eat alot, and I dont want him to spend money on me and me not eat... do I tell him about my surgery? What do I order?

LOL! I'm a little excited... it's been a long time since I've been asked out on a "real" date!  LOL!

I see lots of options.

1.  Say "I had gastric bypass surgery a few months ago so I'm not a big eater these days.  How about going out for coffee instead?"

2.  Say "I had stomach surgery a few months ago so I'm not a big eater..."

3.  Say "I don't have a big appetite.  Could we just get coffee?"

Substitute any other suggestion for coffee!

I wouldn't make a big deal about your surgery, but I would probably tell him.  Just like, if a date asked me if I wanted to go hiking, I would say, well, I have a herniated disk in my back and can't walk to far.  Could we go see a show instead?

Ok I've gone out on a few dates since surgery, just order an appetizer or main dish that you know will be "safe" and just eat what you can eat. I told my date that I had surgery before we went out on the date, he was totally cool with it (and amazed I didn't eat much and felt full). If you don't want to tell him just pretend like nothing is wrong and have a great time.

I would just order something small, eat what you need and take the rest home.

I don't tell first dates about my surgery..not their business and unless we go on more dates after that I don't find it necessary! What I have done on dinner dates since having surgery is like others have said..order something "safe" (for me it's chicken marsala or chicken ceasar salad), eat what I can and take the rest home. I never once have had a date comment I ate a small amount or anything..they don't really seem to care as long as the conversation is good and you're having a good time. Good luck and have fun!
