I miss bread.

I knew this was going to be the hardest part since prior to surgery, I never met a carb I didn't like.  I am craving bread like there is no tomorrow.  I want a darn sandwich.  PB & J, BLT, tuna melt.....I just want a damn real sandwich.  It is making me so mad.  I told someone at work today if I had a fairy godmother I would ask for my old stomach for one day so I could eat a sandwich (with bread!).  I know it is a head thing but I WANT A SANDWICH!  ::stomping feet like a three year old::

I don't get it...why don't you have one?
Bread is on my list of things I can eat

Yeap.  I miss it. Then I had it.  It was great. Tehn the pain started. And lasted for few hours while the bread (the bread ball) was moving slowly in my insides.  Since then - I no longer wnat bread.  well... I want it - but the memory of the pain .... is still so strong that I just atke one look at it - and walk away...

Half a sandwich on whole wheat bread is fine.  You can still eat bread now and then, just in moderation.  There is this bread called Sandwich Thins, which is round, really thin sliced whole wheat bread for small sandwiches that I like.
Do you eat 1/2 of the round?  I may have to try this.  I think I will do it at home the first time, though.  There is nothing worse than being at work with an angry pouch!

Those darn French bread ads are making me salivate. Not that I'm doing perfectly, or even well, but I do believe I'm glad to give up bread in exchange for the bit of weight I've lost.

But oh, the crust...the doughy innards...drool

Nope! It's a trigger food for me, needless to say, and it's out of my life for the foreseeable future. Forever, I hope.

bread is on my plan too - wraps sit fine. which for me, is the problem. I start to crave it, want it, justify it in smaller amounts, then from there i will 'estimate' a serving. bread is a slippery slope for me, at least it always has been in the past.

Sandwich thins are fantastic! And crackers work really well for me too. It takes the edge off. I get the reduced fat ritz or saltines and it works really well for me.
No two pouches are the same, but hopefully you will find something that works to take away your craving!

Have you tried bread lately?  You may be able to tolerate it now, especially if it's thin bread and you toast it.  Which I know may not be exactly what you're craving, but maybe it would be close enough?  I love bread and I tolerate it just fine.  however, I have a really hard time eating it in moderation so I don't eat it very often.  I would love some hot sourdough bread right now with lots of butter!

You should try Ezekiel bread. It's usually in the natural frozen foods section and it's flour-less. I can't really handle regular bread but I really like this stuff.

Yep, I usually only use one slice of bread and put toppings on it like...egg salad with lettuce.

I do not need to toast it (goes down fine).

However, this is not a daily ingestion of bread!

This is my experience with bread.
It took me a year to be able to eat it.
It had to be toasted and I could only eat a 1/2 slice.
It was difficult to eat but I kept doing it.
Now I could eat bread/toasted/with tons of butter all day long. It is one of my old and sometimes now binge foods. I ate that and oreos while I was watching my mom die.
If I had it to do over again I would never have picked up the bread eating habit again. I had to force it and now it's a problem in my life.
Just my experience.

They sell these little breads at most deli counters called "****tail bread" They are small like the size of a cracker, and come in pumpernickel, rye and maybe another flavor, but they are really easy on the pouch and I think it is because they are more dense and don't expand as much as like wonder bread would. I used to buy these all the time and make the cutest little sandwiches and they are super tasty and just the right size so you can eat two slices and then your sandwich filling like chicken salad or deli meat.
Good luck!
