WAY WAY OFF TOPIC-- Russian food.

Ok, here's the deal. We are a hockey family--live in a town with an OHL team. Our  son and his family are a billet family for out of state--country players. In the last 5 years he has kids ( ages 16- 20 years old) from Canada, Sweden, Czech Republic and this year he will have 2 kids from Russia ( they want to stay together in the same home). This has actuall y been an great experience for my grandsons. I've always made a dinner for the new player to welcome him to the family ( and they DO become members of our family) and make them feel comfortable. I've googled Russian food and have come up with some recipes but the trouble is most of them don't have " user reviews" so I have no idea if these recipes are GOOD. I guess what I'm asking is-- does anyone here on the forum have any family recipes--tried and true--of what would be considered everyday Russian food?? They will be here the middle of September and although I'm pre-surgery it is scheduled for the first week in October, so I'm trying to get this dinner planned now. Any help I can get will be VERY much appreciated. THANKS.
Sorry, I posted this twice because the first one didn't show up right away--I thought I pushed cancel instead of submit.--Additional info--we don't know what part of Russia these 2 are from--do know one is from a very small village and one speaks limited English which is why they want to stay together. Can anyone help??
This site has been a really good source of recipes for me. Here's the link for the Russian foods section. Hopefully this helps! Good luck!

Thank You Thank You THANK YOU !!!!!

My daughter in law is from Russia.  She and her family eat alot of fish.  That should be easy for you to make.
