Top 10 list...
I am cheering myself up by thinking through my top 10 favorite things about my life post RNY
1. Not waking myself up snoring
2. Wearing skirts and not ending up with a rash on my thighs (ladies, you KNOW what I am talking about)
3. Shopping in stores and not on-line
4. Going out to eat with friends where the emphasis is on the company and not the food
5. Eating the good stuff, and not the fat-free crap that tastes like paper
6. Trying new recipes
7. Living without constantly being in pain (feet, knees, back, neck...)
8. Riding in a airplane seat
9. Reconnecting with old friends (who I had been avoiding out of shame)
10. Telling my personal trainer that he can kiss my ass, I am NOT going to go run the stairs, because I ALREADY did it before I got there
Add on yours!
1. Much less pain in my arthritic hips!
2. I can walk, bike and even jog sometimes with limited pain
3. I can put my own socks on again....better joint rotation although its still significantly limited
4. Sex life (sorry, TMI?, lol)
5. no more high blood pressure or high cholesterol, no more prescription drugs for these
6. I have learned to cook!
7. I eat healthy and I exercise and I feel proud of myself for role modelling these good lifestyle habits to my son.
8. Vanity...yes, I think I look better than when I was heavy.
9. Although I'm kind of passed the increased narcissism stage of the first 18 months or so, I do enjoy having more clothing options. I also feel like I can wear any style of clothing or hair cut...not always first concerned with whether it will be "slimming".
10. Recovery from an eating disorder...bariatric surgery was my path way to realizing how many problems I have with food and living. The weight was a symptom and I have been given a fresh chance to work on the underlying issues. I am grateful.
