Diet Ginger Ale

I am 10 days Post-OP and I have this question. I feel like sometimes I have gas built in me and that's why I get this sharp pain on the left side of my abdominals. My mom who is 1-Year+ off of Lap-band surgery suggests I should try Diet Ginger Ale. It is known for giving you gas and eventually getting rid of the gas inside of you. However I am concerned that it's absoutely dangerous to try it, but is it true can diet ginger ale help with gas?

Walking will do more to help the gas, I'd imagine.

Gas X. Walking or a warm heating pad

You had a bypass. Carbonated beverages are out.  Especially 10 days post op

They blow your stomach up like a ballon with gas so they can operate without obstruction.  Gas gets trapped in the worst places.  It takes awhile to get it out

It is not dangerous.  It could be uncomfortable.

I wouldn't! Your stomach is a mass of stitches holding it together and you don't want to add to the pressure by drinking a carbonated beverage. You can drink the ginger ale if it's flat or you can have ginger tea, but I wouldn't have soda. Your gas is probably left over from the surgery. Call your doctor's office and find out whether you can take Gas-X strips (you probably can). They melt in your mouth and help the gas die down.
