Almost 2 years out and up 12 lbs, seeing the surgeon again

Ok so in February Ill be 2 years out, I lost about 85 lbs total never getting below 190, I was thrilled with that, it wasn't ideal but I went from a sizw 24w to a 16 and feel great. well as I got comfortable the weight slowly crept up and im back over 200. I called the surgeons office as it is time for blood work and for them to see me. I talked to to MA and she said sometimes they like to try some meds both which contain phenteramine, I am NOT OK with this, I have battled horrible anxiety and am on meds for it and do not want to go that route. She said we can also do a modified liquid diet which I have already started. I don't go til nov 11 and I want to get under 200 by then. I am so angry with myself and feel like an idiot. I have worked hard , it was a rough year and then I go and do this. I think of before when I was type 2 diabetes , high BP, loathed myself and I swore I would never go back. have any of you gained weight and what did you do about it. please help me I am really scared. thanks

Since liquids go right through the pouch, it seems like a liquid diet will make you hungry all the time.  Why not a low cal diet with solid food and lots of fiber to help you feel full?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Are you exercising at all?  that can also help with weight loss, maintaincacne, diabetes and high blood pressure.  Even just walking can really make a difference!  While our tool helps us with portion control (if we let it) we still have to exercise.  I know some people cant for various reasons but if you can or do it will help to make your weight more stable.  Mind you I am only about 18 months out and I am not a nutrionist or a trainer so obvioulsy talking to a professional and the vets here is always the best route!

Welcome to maintenance!   Most of us have to watch what we eat and exercise - WLS is a lifestyle change and you have probably got off track!

Doing liquid diets and taking diet pills is the reason you have WLS (I hope) so you WOULDN'T have to do those crazy things again - I know I wouldn't.

Go back to eating like you know you should (cut the white carbs, protein first, no drinking with meals and get off the sofa) - the weight will come off if you track and eat between 1200-1400 calories per day (more if you exercise)

I feel your pain. I am only 14 months post op but have been in maintenance since May. I did the dreaded 10lb bounce back and trying to lose it, but the scale isn't budging. I agree with other posters - go back to basics. Get off the simple carbs, protein first, log everything - I us MFP - drink your water and do some form of activity daily. I usually do the treadmill, but I believe exercise is really key. Best of luck - you got this!!

Yep... What Kim and Kelly said. Your weight-loss surgery is not magic and you do have to work at it. When we get complacent about what we eat the scale WILL creep up.

All liquids isn't going to make you feel full AND you will feel deprived of  something to chew.  It also does nothing but reinforce the old dieting mentality, which failed for every single one of us every single time. Going back to basics, on the other hand, and eating dense protein will reinforce the healthy lifestyle change you need to make in order to be successful long-term.
