Fast absorption of drugs?
Hi...can't find this topic anywhere and my face is ready to explode!
I have a really bad sinus infection...am on antibiotics and Tylenol ....
About 15 minutes after taking Tylenol my pain really goes, but only for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours .....then it comes back with a vengeance ......is this because it goes through my system so fast ( like alcohol?)....
If so, would it help to take a half a dose every 2 hours? And are the antibiotics being fully absorbed or should I take a half a dose twice as often....
Thanks for answering.....I wonder if others have had this issue?

From what I understand, RNYers still absorb these meds, perhaps not 100% but certainly not to the degree of worry that one should take any more than directed.
No, it's not like alcohol, that goes directly to our liver, medicines/antibiotics and such go through our intestines and work that way.
Your meds should do their job and continue to take them as prescribed. Perhaps ask at your centre what they may know about your concerns or better yet a pharmacist who may know about gastric bypass?
Hope you feel getter soon.
Annette 😄
Thanks Annette for your reply. It was very helpful.
I guess I am wondering why the Tylenol doesn't last as long as it used to...it is just a sinus infection but I am travelling in Europe and it is first time I have been ill since the surgery so I am still getting used the the ins and outs of this new body of mine! I think the French don't really do bariatric surgery and even if they did...hmmm my high school French would certainly fail me!
Thanks again
