Tracking question

To the vets... how do you find it best to track.  I ask as I am pre-op, trying to learn and absorb as much as possible.... Do you use MFP for all macro's or do you worry mostly about the protein for the first few months.  Just trying to get a sense for what worked for you!!!!!!

Until the habits became, well, habits, I used My Fitness Pal religiously.  I don't track any more -- I make good choices and things work out the way they should.

Hi Carimiller, I am 1 year, 1 month post op and I track everything in MFP.  I love it and love how it tells me if I am on track with my protein and carbs etc.  I don't know how I would have survived without it, I have used it from Day 1.  I also love my Fitbit. Tells me my steps for the day and I log my water intake on the Fitbit App on my iPhone.  Two programs I personally feel I can't live without.  The MFP is free so try it and if you don't like it its not a biggie you can try something else.

Best of luck on your journey!

I am 28 months post op and I still track using pen and paper. I track calories and protein grams only. When I was in the losing stage I tracked only protein grams as my doctor recommended. When I got to maintenance a bit over a year ago I added calories in as well.

I use Spark People -- free, online as well as a cell phone app. I track protein, carbs, sugar, water and fat. I also use it to log my steps and other excercise. I have a pedometer that I use to measure my steps. Best thing is to try some different programs and see what works for you. Best wishes!

I started tracking when I was consuming "normal" amounts of food.  Still weighing a measuring, but eating a cup to a cup and a half of regular food.

In the beginning I concentrated on protein and water.

Good luck!

MyFitnessPal. I keep track of everything, but really just care about calories at this point.
