Salt sensitive
Good morning and Happy Friday fellow RNYers! Quick question for you about salt/sodium sensitivity. I find myself becoming extremely sensitive to salt (which I love by the way). I don't like sweets or the protein shakes so I find myself eating a lot of soup and/or broth. Some mornings I wake up and can feel very swollen and can't get my rings off. I think it is hindering my weight loss as I have fluctuated a lot during the last few days and two weeks. Any suggestions as to how I can fight that off? Many thanks!

The only thing I can suggest is the most obvious answer. Reduce your sodium intake and make sure you are drinking plenty of plain water ( if you can handle it. ). What kind of broth are you using? Are you adding unflavored protein powder to broth? It's weird. I actually have to add extra salt to my diet because my blood pressure is lower, and it wasn't high to begin with.
I use Kitchen Basics unsalted broth. It has 150 mg of sodium per cup. That is way, way less than most broths. I believe Swanson's has 860 mg per cup. I can get it at Wal-Mart and Publix...hopefully your local grocery store carries it.

Hope this helps.

I guess I was more wondering if others have experienced an intolerance toward sodium post op. It was never a problem for me and I feel like I'm unable to drink more water than I already do. I was hoping I didn't have to omit broth and soup altogether.
