cough
I'm sure ya'll are getting tired of me but I find this board very helpful....I am 5 days out.. doing well just the little everyday annoying things...
when I came home I had SEVERE headache...dry nose...sore throat (like a cold type..)...so then I pulled out my humidifier, nose spray & felt better..
Today my symptoms are RUNNY nose (like a faucet) low grade temp (99.2) & a little cough...I can barely cough bc of my stomach being sore...
question is..would it be a BAD idea to take Hall's SF cough drops? Thanks in advance
Hi. There is a prescription med out called tesalon pearls. (not sure I am spelling it right), but it is for cough. My NP and Dr. said safe to take after surgery. They're a gem. NO coughing at all within 15 minutes of taking them. Also, SF halls may have sugar alcohols in them. You may want to check. Hope this helps.

The thing about Tessalon Pearls is you HAVE to drink a lot of water with them or you WILL get a bladder infection. I speak from personal experience. That is a warning the pharmacy and doc gave, but it happened anyway. It was very unpleasant. I'd be afraid you wouldn't be abled to get enough water in so early on.
I would just check with your surgeon because you don't want to mess around with a post surgery cough....pneumonia is a serious complication...rare, but it happens because we take more shallow breaths after abdominal surgery. There are other reasons too. Just call to be sure you don't have something brewing in there.
