Full Liquid Diet
Starting Thursday I will be moved up to "Full Liquid" post-op. My plans full liquids phase includes yogurt, cream (strained) soups, pudding, milk. Right now, I'm not having any problems with liquids, I sip sip sip and don't usually fill "full" or have any nausea. How long did it take you to drink a protein shake mixed with skim milk in this phase? Did you fill up quickly? How about yogurt? Could you eat a container full in one sitting? I'm just trying to get a feel for the average, so I know what to expect.
Thanks in Advance!
A container of light greek yogurt took me 3 meals to finish. I didnt handle the cream soups very well but did wonderfully when i could start eating refried beans. I would add a little shredded cheese to them for a little extra protein. I feel very full after drinking a shake.
It takes me around 30-45 mins to finish a protein shake. I am not allowed chili at this stage (pureed), unless it's mixed in a blender, which just makes me feel ill thinking about it. I'm allowed cream soups, and I usually have a fat free cheddar broccoli for one of my 2 oz meals per day. I handle it fine, and it takes around 25-30 minutes to eat.
Every surgeon/program is different. What I'm allowed may not be on your plan. Each meal during my first 8 weeks post op is only 2 oz., so a 6 oz. yogurt lasts me three meals. I don't feel particularly FULL, since I'm mostly having liquid type things for my meals, but I'm never hungry.
