Hi am wondering if anyone has had to do a fast and sugar tolerance test since their RNY. I am wanting some idea of how bad this may turn out to be for me, I do NOT handle sugar well. Thanks all.

I would not do one.  What does your doctor want you to do it for?

I would simply monitor my blood sugar before and after eating instead.  I see no benefit to inducing severe dumping syndrome for me.

Sugar tolerance test and RNy is not a very good idea - IMO.

I dump and I know I have RH.. and that is bad...

good luck...

Ok so first off all I do dump with sugar, I have been monitoring my sugar after eating and I see it go 14 or 16 even, then within hour or so I am hitting 3 or lower.

I do not get low levels from fasting though.

From what I understand it is to distinguish my Hypoglycemia issues??

It sounds like what you have is reactive hypoglycemia. It is different than, and needs to be treated differently than, regular hypoglycemia.

If you know you dump, do NOT do the glucose tolerance test. It won't supply any new information, and will make you violently ill.

Do a search for reactive hypoglycemia. It is well controlled by a careful diet.
