Ok Team

If you had the ability to give me one yep just one piece of advice of something I can do to help myself get ready for my surgery ( Hopefully by the end of August) What would it be ??? It can be mental , physical, philosophical or just supportive.

I have gained a wealth of knowledge already from this forum and would love to continue gaining your support and comradery.

Get into the habit of tracking your food now.  I didn't track religiously until 3 months post op and I think i could have had a much larger loss if I kept a tighter hold on my intake early on.

The healthier you go into surgery, the healthier you come out of surgery and get on with your new life sooner.  That mindset helped me make good decisions during the pre-op phase.

If you posted more of your stats - BMI etc, people could probably give you better ideas.

Best of Luck!

Sharon

Patience, let your body heal after surgery. Focus on fluids, walking and rest. Don't worry about the scale the loss will come but I wish I had spent more time relaxing those first few weeks and not worrying and stressing so much about things out of my control.

Weigh and track your food. Every bite, every morsel. Every calorie. Make it second nature.

Make changes in your eating habits now, don't fill the time before with a million "last suppers". I gave up soda and caffeine 6 months before surgery, that was one detox I didn't need on top of recovery

For me it was trying to learn to eat slower earlier on.

I have always eaten on the run or distracted at work during meals, and I did make some progress but still working on it.

Sanitize your living space and bathroom the night before surgery. Bleach your sheets, disinfect your bathroom etc. No point asking for a post op infection.

I wish I could back and tell myself the following:

"You have no idea what you are getting into. You think you know.  You read all the things.  You think you are ready.  Get over yourself and trust the process.  This is going to be a crazy ride and you will love it in the end. Stop stressing about details and enjoy the journey."
