Dumping on fruit?

So I'm on vacation at Prince Edward Island and there's lots of local produce, PEI potatoes, PEI strawberries, etc.  Last night I had a lot of strawberries and got really sick. Bloated, nauseous, shaky, stomach cramps, etc. it never occurred to me that it could the fruit, but I had strawberries again tonight and now I'm sick again. I haven't had much fruit since RNY, but I was sure that my nut said we couldn't dump on fruit. Thoughts?

You can dump on anything that contains sugar.  While strawberries don't have as much sugar as bananas, they do have sugar.  You're less likely to dump on strawberries, but obviously you are dumping on strawberries...

Sugar is sugar. It doesn't matter where it comes from.

Most of the long term vets limit their fruit intake. Some don't partake at all.

Now you know. Be more careful.

I had my 11 week post op appointment today and among several things I discussed with him, I told him my only dumping experience I had was after eating a banana. My heart began racing and I was so sick. He said you can't dump on fruit and I probably just was intolerant ..... I DO NOT agree with him , I am intolerant to eggs and tuna... It affected my stomach feeling nauseated but my heart was racing and beating so hard after eating the banana . I believe you can dump on fruit no matter what my doc says

Bananas have a huge amount of natural sugar and strawberries have some too. Sugar is sugar regardless of the source. I can eat blackberries and blueberries but not even a small amount of strawberries or bananas. Your doctor is a surgeon not a dietitian--he knows how to cut and that's it.

It's why we vets don't very often tell people to do what their surgeon says.  So many of them give HORRIBLE advice and information.   All those years at medical school do not make them an expert in anything other than their chosen specialty ie, surgery.

I dumped on strawberries and raspberries early on 5-6 months out.  I have eliminated fruit up until this month (month 11) and started with watermelon (yes I know a lot of sugar but I really wanted it), now pineapple and yes I bought some strawberries although I haven't tried them but will today and if I dump I will post again to let you know.  So far so good.

I love watermelon and pineapple - and years later still cannot eat either one without getting sick.  I can eat strawberries, raspberries and bananas with no problems - even kiwi.

I am no longer defined, by the wreckage behind!

Everyone is different.  I can eat strawberries and I didn't or haven't dumped yet.  But what is "a lot of strawberries"  it may not be the strawberries themselves but the quantity that you ate.  Just because its a "good for you food" doesn't mean you don't need to measure how much you're taking in.
