Feeling awsome at 5 months out...

I am 5 months out from surgery and have many mixed emotions. I'm sad that I'm practically bald at the crown of my head, that I can't enjoy shopping because I'm flying through clothes so I'm stuck in workout wear all the time, I do not enjoy food at all anymore and I eat to stay alive and remain healthy only, and well I really do hate the whole hair situation. BUT I love the amount of energy I have, my slimmer figure, the compliments I receive, the ease of getting in and out of amusement park rides, the way my fiance wows over me all the time, shopping in any store, and the general overall confidence I now have. The pros far out weigh the cons and I feel that I am at one of the happiest points in my life. I have lost 55 lbs so far since surgery and have gone from a size 20 to a size 14. I had to add a second protein shake to my daily menu because I found it difficult to get the protein in but otherwise I am doing well on the eating front. It's still very difficult for my family to understand that I do not plan my life or social functions around food anymore so it is a struggle to not get caught up in all the good food talk but I know it doesn't sit well with me and allows me to easily say no and stay away. Below I will try to post 2 before pics, one from our family vacation last august and one from the morning of surgery. Then I will add 2 from this week, when I took the opportunity in the restroom at work to snap a couple selfies lol I have to point out I am wearing my favorite shirt I ever bought at a Blake Shelton concert that it took 6 months to fit into that says "God gave me you...and Blake Shelton". Next step: exercise!!! I don't do any... I really need to start. My stomach could use some major core exercises :-)

You look awesome! I'm sorry you don't enjoy food at all anymore, I still do--its just much less prominent than it was in my life before. This journey is sure something!

Yes it is! The things I crave, are things that aren't the best choices. 1 bite of something bad tends to be enough but I really don't put myself in those situations because I don't want to ever look as I did before. I have worse before photos, Im just saving those for goal weight comparisons lol

I went through a phase too where eating was pretty much a bother but it seemed to just be a phase. I no longer feel that way now and enjoy small amounts of tasty healthy food again. Most likely that will change. And WOW have you Changed! Looking amazing my Dear! Congratulations and thanks for sharing your journey with us!

Holy wow, LOOK AT YOU!  So awesome!  I'm really happy for you.  I am reminded of a novel I read once, where the main character said "Food is something you eat so that you don't die."  I remember thinking "yeah right lady, I love food!" and now I totally relate to her!  I do only eat so that I don't die!  That's just fine by me!

Well done. You are looking great! I think we had surgery around the same time and I just realized today, that I do not use food for comfort anymore. I had a really rough day at work yesterday and would normally have ended my day with ice cream, chips and chocolate bars. And when I returned this morning I thought: Really? I did not even think about food!!!!

Way to go for the both of us!
