NSV Went out in the canoe

I had not been in a canoe in several decades (probably 4) with the last two being because I was too heavy to get in without risk of sinking. Pre-op this was one of my goals (to go canoeing) and today I did! I think my arms and shoulders will be sore tomorrow, but for now I'm so excited about this mini adventure; I'm already planning for the next one.

On the downside, I went to a potluck dinner on Thursday and while I made good choices, I ate too much and shocker, found I had gained weight! Ugh. So, I'm back to being very careful again this week and hope to take it off again and keep heading downwards toward my goal. I also was bad about getting all my water in the last couple of days and I suspect this is part of the problem. Today's goal is to really get my water in and watch my food intake carefully.

You are coming up on that 1 yr mark and are close to your goal weight.  It is important to not beat yourself up , so it is easier to get back on track after the next meal (no need to wait until the next day).

You observation about the water will also help you stay on track.

Best wishes for a successful week!

I am an odd one and the chances of this happening to you are only about 3%. But what did happen to me is that I heal too quickly. Everywhere I got cut, my tissues began to heal immediately creating massive and bizarre bits of scar tissue. My intestines closed themselves, then they attached themselves to other parts of my innards and it just kept happening. In the end, I had a total of 3 scoped surgeries, the first to complete the RNY. The next two correct the grown together bits and finally an open surgery (from sternum to just below my belly button) to correct all the previous corrections. The last time my surgeon used some magical stuff that kept my parts from touching other parts (sort of like non-stick spray or Teflon) and I finally healed correctly minus an additional 2 feet of my upper intestine. So four surgeries and 24 days in the hospital and a $500,000 bill that the insurance company paid (thank goodness), I came home and I've not had a lick of trouble since then other than some initial constipation which eventually and for the most part has corrected itself with probiotics and vegetables.
